Her story reminds us of what truly matters in life. After suffering a traumatic brain injury, Rads literally came back from the dead, learning to walk, talk, to function again. 18.01.2022 This is what a big win for Women in Sport looks like . In a very small, rural north Queensland town, a significant leap was made on the weekend. For the first time in recent local history, the Cairns Cycling Club hosted a fully inclusive Cycle Tour that included a Women’s Division offering individual podiums and prize money that was equivalent to that traditionally offered in the Men’s Grades. It’s taken two years of quiet advocating, encouraging, of showing up at races, bu...t here we are. Fourteen women and 60 men competed over two days for cash and prizes in a Criterium, 40km Road Race and a 10km Individual Time Trial. We are so proud to have not only had our athletes 1-2-3 on the Womens General Classification podium, but for our Ambassador Megan Hendry to take the overall Champions Trophy for the entire series was a huge moment for us. We could not be prouder! Congratulations to all who raced, including the fabulous up and coming Juniors . 08.01.2022 We know everyone is champing at the bit to get racing. Here, our Pro Penny Slater-triathlete just couldn't wait any longer with a DIY Farm Tri! Race report as follows: Happy with my swim a chilly 13 degrees. T1 not my best work must be out of practice . Happy with my bike despite being alone for the whole thing. Wood chop on point, really felt the aero sleeves helped on this one. Mum says I need to work on my stacking. Almost stumbled at the final hurdle when I tried to... turn off the wrong tap. Major lesson learned steel cap farm boots don't work well on the bike, or run for that matter. Overall happy with the race, lots to learn for future farm duties. 01.01.2022 Inspo on a Friday is always a good idea. Everyone has a story and a why, and we particularly love Jo’s: ‘What is there not to love about triathlons! I love that this sport is so inclusive. The people are so supportive and friendships I have made....well I would need another paragraph. Anyone can do this sport and you get to race with all types of people be they first time triathletes, mums, dad, kids, tall, short, skinny, a bit chunkier ( like me ) to professionals. Everyon...e is happy to share all their experiences. I love the feeling of "family" and "accomplishment" when racing. Finishing a race is the best feeling...even coming last. I used to get very disappointed with that but I have learned to embrace it and concentrate on the fact that I finished, which is better than those who have not started. My goals are to do the best I possibly can in training and racing on that day....and hopefully have someone say " if she can do it.....so can I"... just influence one person to start would be fantastic Cheers Jo foher.co || #foherco #inclusive #community #foherfam
