25.01.2022 It has been a very busy few weeks in the clinic for me! Currently working on a post pill protocol for a client to help get her hormones back on track

25.01.2022 Trouble getting to sleep/ staying asleep is one of the MOST common problems we see in clinic. Poor sleep can increase your risk of chronic illness, affect memory and concentration, cause mood changes, decrease libido, and increase weight gain. Chronic insomnia can also worsen inflammatory conditions. Some of my favourite sleepy herbs include; passionflower, lemon balm, kava, chamomile, skullcap, and lavender. When formulating a treatment plan for improving sleep onset/maintenance we also take into consideration sleep hygiene practices and micronutrient status. (We commonly prescribe sedative herbals for people who do shift work as well) If this sounds like something we could help you with, inbox us to book in a consult.

24.01.2022 I am so excited to finally put this passion project out into the world! This book was born out of my love for helping those around me become the most elevated version of themselves. I have always been a food lover but it was only when I began to invest in my health that my love for cooking began to transform. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness and the key to optimising health is through a diverse whole-food nutrient dense diet.... As a practitioner, my focus is on reconnecting people to their bodies and to give it exactly what it needs to thrive. I believe in intuitive eating and gently guiding the body to a state of alignment. This cookbook features more than 30 delicious and nutritious everyday recipes that are gluten-free and mostly dairy-free recipes. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. COMING SOON

18.01.2022 FOOD AS MEDICINE Foods that help reduce period pain High fibre foods - to promote regular bowel movements and promote estrogen clearance; flaxseeds, kidney beans, oats, brown rice, pear, walnuts, broccoli, banana.... Magnesium - helps to relax uterine muscles and improve blood flow: pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashews, black beans, edemame, avocado. Zinc - helps to down regulate prostaglandin production: oysters, beef, pumpkin seeds, yoghurt, chickpeas, almonds. Omega 3s - down regulate the inflammatory response: sardines, hemp seeds, salmon, walnuts, flaxseed, chia seeds.

18.01.2022 I dont spend all day in the kitchen but I do set aside time each week to plan meals for the week, do the grocery shopping + make up some ready to go meals for when I am really busy. I try and make dinner fresh every day but its more time effective for me to have breakfasts and lunches prepped. This means when I am busy and get hungry - Im not reaching for a quick fix or junk managing your time well saves money, prevents food wastage and means you are eating clean! This i...s something I speak to clients about in consults - being time poor is something I can relate to - I work and study 2 different degrees + fit time in to MOVE my body, get outside, see loved ones and have down time, cook, clean, (wash my hair - got to schedule this one in) - SO as a result of this - I am not perfect, my diet isnt perfect, my sleep isnt perfect, my self care isnt perfect and my exercise isnt perfect. Clients personal schedules are always considered when formulating a treatment plan See more

18.01.2022 Friday feels - Scientists believe that the major source of people's positive reactions to pets comes from oxytocin, a hormone whose many functions include stimulating social bonding, relaxation and trust, and easing stress. Research has shown that when humans interact with dogs, oxytocin levels increase in both species

06.01.2022 Do you experience hormonal acne? Hormones, along with many other factors, including bacteria, skin cell abnormalities, genetics, and stress levels all play a role. Lifestyle factors and dietary choices play a role in reducing symptoms.... Avoiding blood sugar fluctuations by choosing low-glycemic-index foods and high quality protein is key to controlling acne. Eating sugary foods increases levels of insulin, which then stimulates the release of other hormones, such as insulin-like growth factor 1 which is a major contributor to the development of acne. Dairy products ALSO promote insulin secretion and the production of IGF-1! Goodbye dairy and refined sugars

06.01.2022 Lets talk period pain. During your menstrual period, your uterus contracts to help expel its lining. Hormonelike substances (prostaglandins) involved in pain and inflammation trigger the uterine muscle contractions. Higher levels of prostaglandins are associated with more-severe menstrual cramps. Healthy periods should cause minimal discomfort and extreme menstrual cramps should be further investigated. There are a few conditions that can cause painful:... Endometriosis: when the lining forms outside of the uterus, for example in the fallopian tubes and can cause a more chronic pain than regular period cramps. Uterine fibroids which presents as non-cancerous growths on the uterus walls. Adenomyosis, when the tissue lining the uterus begins to grow into the uterine walls. Pelvic inflammatory disease, an infection of a womans reproductive organs, usually caused by bacteria transmitted through sex. Cervical stenosis, when the opening of the cervix is smaller and restricts the flow of menstrual blood this can cause an increase in pressure in the uterus. Painful menstrual cramps and estrogen excess.... More than 50% of the metabolism of estrogens takes place in the liver, therefore targeting the liver becomes central when it comes to clearing oestrogen. The liver metabolizes hormones & other substances using two primary Phases the Phase I and Phase II pathways. The liver will prioritise detoxing alcohol, toxins, etc before oestrogen. Another way estrogen metabolism is accomplished is by the gastrointestinal system. Approximately 50% of the estrogen that is metabolised by the liver in then excreted in the bile and passed into the intestines - estrogens either are then either excreted in the feces (POOP) or they are re-absorbed into the portal circulation. This is why regular bowel movements are essential for oestrogen clearance. Estrogen excess can result in PMS symptoms such as headaches, clotting, breakouts, cramping and heavy periods.

04.01.2022 Fun fact! As part of my Bachelor of Health Science I specifically studied SPORTS NUTRITION. This involves dietary analysis, bioimpedence analysis and a specifically formulated dietary plan custom made for you!

03.01.2022 WATER Water is the most important substance you will ever put into your body - next to oxygen. It is so important to drink clean, filtered water - I emphasise this to every patient. ... Australian drinking water is adulterated with numerous toxicants like chlorine, lead and copper from old pipes, agricultural herbicides and fertilisers, fluorinated persistent chemicals known as PFAS and trihalomethanes. Run off from industry and agriculture can pollute the water supply with heavy metals, solvents and petroleum products. Furthermore - Fluoride can be found in drinking water. Two forms of fluoride can be found in tap water and are bi products of fertilisers and refining industries. The CDC define fluoride as extremely toxic in high doses. (According to the World Health Organisation - Countries that do not have fluoride present in water have not seen a difference in tooth decay - just for those wondering about dental health!) To ensure I am consuming clean and pure drinking water I use a @zazenalkalinewater in my home! It safely and effectively reduces fluoride up to 90% plus heavy metals & other harmful toxins. It has a State-of-the-Art 10 Stage Process- designed by zazen in Australia for local water conditions together with the worlds leading water scientists. Zazen is unique because it remineralises water! Water that contains the right properties, including a balanced range of minerals, is readily received and absorbed into the body for cellular hydration! An alternative to the Zazen could just be a counter top jug filter - see my water highlight for more information!

03.01.2022 Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to have @caitlinschuit_naturopath as my mentor and role model her guidance and wisdom has been invaluable and I have learned SO MUCH while interning for her. So I am very excited to announce that I will now be working... at Caitlins clinic @healingarts_studio as of October 2020 You can book via my website Link in bio.
