24.01.2022 URGENT FIRE SALE Lovely, friendly Highland cattle boys. Very regretful sale as we have lost too much pasture to support them. Please read picture descriptions. Inbox if you are interested

23.01.2022 UPDATE Thankyou to those that shared, the Brumbies will be taken by the Victorian Brumby Association URGENT HOMES NEEDED... YOUNG BRUMBY COLTS Hi everyone. Were looking for a home for the 5 Brumby colts. They are lovely boys, unhandled. Less than 2 years old. Are curious to learn and come over for food. Please share, our property is completely burnt out and we cannot afford to feed them. This is a very regretful decision as we were hoping to rehabilitate and rehome them but are unable to do so anymore PLEASE SHARE See more

23.01.2022 Need Help: Brumbies My mother Libby, Rebecca Colebrook and currently myself run the Follyfoot Equine Rescue and Rehab group and a small riding centre Longridge Riding centre near the small town of Mogo, near Batemans bay. We rescue brumbies and horses that have been neglected, discarded or set to be euthanised. Many are re trained to be used in the riding school which accomodates for riders of all skills and levels, persons with disabilities, help with sufferers of PTSD and t...hen are given great forever homes or left to live out their lives peacfully at Follyfoot We recently rescued 10 brumbies from Koscuiosko NPs latest cull. They were due to be shot because no home could be found by the deadline given so Follyfoot took them all in. The fires have caused total devastation to the whole area and there is not a blade of grass to be seen it is all ash. Miraculously all the brumbies survived these terrible fires, including one giving birth to a beautiful young foal amidst the chaos. My mum and I are working sunrise to sunset with no power, repairing fences, burying dead animals, feeding out 30 odd horses, 17 ewes with young lambs, 7 highland cattle, and about 20 odd wallabies and kangaroos that survived in their area and have nothing to eat either. We had no water til 5 days ago and little to no reception and have to stay on the farm to protect it from looters. I have brought hay from wagga and we have had some hay and hardfeed and supplies donated by amazing people, the Arc, and the DPI which they worked out will last a week. Im hoping by posting in this group that i find some more help for these animals before the week is out. If anyone can help in the order of; *rehoming a brumby *donating horse feed, hay, hard feed, chaff, anything *donating money to buy horse feed * donating fencing supplies, wire, posts, fencing roll, gripples * supplies like petrol to run a generator, diesel to run the tractor * even sharing this post We have set up a Go fund me page for FollyFoot Rescue which is a registered charity and you can access via this link; HTTPS://www.gofundme.com/f/funds-for-feed-and-fencing-for-r Please help in whichever way you can.

23.01.2022 Hi everyone. It is predicted to rain at about 2pm. We had 3 drops last night. I havent done anything for the bbq, except tidy my verandah!. If someone can pick a few things up from IGA that would be good. I was busy sorting out my roof and getting everything under cover yesterday for the non eventful rain! I guess we need bread or rolls, some salad stuff and meat. I have butter & sauce and plates and horses. X

22.01.2022 Hi everyone. Follyfoot is in desperate need of feed and fresh water. The property has been mostly burnt and there is no feed left on the ground. The horses are all safe but hungry. We cannot take on any more rescues until we get back on our feet. Any donations, feed and water would be extremely beneficial and in desperate need

22.01.2022 Follyfoot Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation is taking on 10 Kosciusko brumbies to train and rehome; but we need your help. We must raise $1400 for a truck to tra...nsport the brumbies from the mountains all the way to the coast, and thats not to mention the feed, farrier, dental and vet bills that are sure to follow. The brumbies, who have lived in the Snowy Mountains for generations, are being captured and removed from their home. Unless rescues like ours can take them on, they will be sent to slaughter. If each person liking our page gave only $1 per week, we would have enough donations to cover our feed bills. Please donate today any amount is greatly appreciated. Use Facebooks Donate button to use Paypal, or email us on [email protected] for bank details. The snowy mountains brumbies deserve the opportunity to find their forever home and continue the legacy of their ancestors who served this country. Please dont let the legend of the snowy mountains brumby end in the doggers yard.

21.01.2022 The damage caused by pigs... commonly blamed on the brumbies! Video taken Long Plain KNP June 2019.

19.01.2022 Hi everyone. On a local level we are asking if we could get some volunteers to help out at the Runnyford property. At the moment Libby is looking after all of the horses and her own livestock out there without any assistance. If anyone could spare some time to help feed or clean yards etc it would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately we need only people with horse experience as the feeding and cleaning is around the brumbies and other large animals. Xx

18.01.2022 We would like to extend a huge thankyou to everyone that has donated rugs, we didnt expect to have to get them out so early! Now everyone is cosy in this cold rain that will likely continue most of the week. In particular wed like to give heartfelt thanks to Ash Harrison and her team and Alison Weir and her helpers for their kind donations and efforts getting rugs of all shapes and sizes to us

16.01.2022 An update on how everything is going. Thankyou to the kind donations we managed to get some hay sourced. We had a donation of water as well, so for a couple days everyone has food and water little Phoenix is going well and his mum is much better now she has food in her belly. Round yard rubber was burnt away, a problem for another day!

16.01.2022 Thank you very much for all of the offers and positive comments regarding our Brumby colts. We believe that VBA will provide a fantastic home for them. This is not how we planned for things to happen, and we are devastated that our boys need to go so soon. All of them were to be part of our Mental Health/PTSD reconnect program, but with less than 10% of our paddocks and fences left we cant keep everyone here. Feed donations will trickle to nothing in a short amount of time ...when the fires become yesterdays news, and we dont want to end up being one of those rescues with starving horses that need to be rescued again! On buying this place I figured that 75 acres was enough and it was holding its own during the drought - but this has reduced our area to such a small amount now. Our other 25 acre property with our riding school has been literally razed to the ground, and nothing is left. To those who have felt the need to aggressively question or abuse us during this really hard time - not fair. Walk a mile in someone elses shoes and get all your facts before hiding behind your screen to be mean. Youre not here living this particular situation, so if you have nothing positive or constructive to say - say nothing......

16.01.2022 Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Dr. Christina. This lovely lady has very quietly donated $500 directly into our account which I have just seen now!!! What a wonderful lady and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I was checking the account to try and pay for the transport of the brumbies and saw the donation. Please message if you would like a receipt as it is fully tax deductible. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!!

13.01.2022 Hi everyone. Please dig deep and donate. We have listed our current costs on a new post and they already have exceeded $5000 for the transport and care of the Brums. Follyfoot already had another 10 rescues in care (thoroughbreds, standardbreds etc), before we took on the brumbies.

12.01.2022 We needed some good news today! Our beautiful bushfire rescue Kosi Brumbies arrived this afternoon! Thankyou so much to Follyfoot Equine Rescue & Rehab South Co...ast NSW Inc for giving them a safe place to land after they were caught and for reaching out to us to take them after their property was decimated by the recent bushfires. Thankyou to M & J Peterson Horse Transport for your skills and willingness to transport them safely to us at a heavily discounted rate. Thanks to @Bridie OBrien for being there for this special delivery while we have been tied up on telephones all day, trying to ascertain if there was an aerial Brumby slaughter govt on in our Vic High County today!! This is an expensive rescue for us! PLEASE GIVE IF YOU CAN TO OUR GOFUNDME FUNDRAISER ( https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-save-brumbies-affected-by-b ). We are a 100% volunteer group and we need your help to continue to offer safety and a bright future to our Aussie Brumbies!! See more

12.01.2022 URGENT FIRE LEASE Update 7/2 still looking for a home! For a free lease 6 months. Izzy is an 11 year old Warmblood cross mare. She is a beautiful soul, with won...derful groundwork skills and a history of schooling. We were trialling her before the fires, but we unfortunately didnt have enough time to try her in saddle. She is 16.1 hands. We are looking for a loving home for 6 months or potentially longer if she suits. Due to her being untried as yet she would suit a companion or experienced home. Please inbox us if you could take this lovely girl for a little while. Please no time wasters Please share See more

10.01.2022 Hi everyone. Quick update on our situation. Due to the necessary but heartbreaking decision to rehome many of our horses we have been drastically trying to find loving forever homes to our high standards. We have found some truly good homes for many of our rescues including the brumby colts to the Victorian Brumbies Association. We are still looking for a home for Tambo, our 10 year old standardbred. Please share and help him find his person. We are still in need of hay as our supplies are dwindling rapidly. We are so grateful to the donations we have received so far. Unfortunately due to Facebook and Paypal we have not yet been able to access any but direct bank transfers. If you would like to donate please send your tax deductible donation to BSB 032 681, Acc 278804. Thankyou

10.01.2022 Due to the overwhelming gear donations through our charity and our sister business Longridge Equestrian, we are giving away gear to those in need. Please share to fire-affected horse enthusiasts

10.01.2022 We would like to extend a huge thankyou to everyone that has donated rugs, we didn't expect to have to get them out so early! Now everyone is cosy in this cold rain that will likely continue most of the week. In particular we'd like to give heartfelt thanks to Ash Harrison and her team and Alison Weir and her helpers for their kind donations and efforts getting rugs of all shapes and sizes to us

09.01.2022 An update on the funds and feed. We are in the process of organising some feed to get to us on the coast. There are a lot of logistics involved and many people! We cannot express enough thanks for those that have already donated, and done so generously. Particular thankyou to Margaret Riddell, Tracey Pillinger, Tracey Jansen and Sandra Western for their kind donations. A huge thankyou to those helping find us feed and supplies, such as Redemption Road, Ash Coomber, Angie Duncan, Bronwyn Afflick, Alli Cairns and Wheelo Mark. There are many messages to send and things to plan and only one of us with reception, we thank you for your patience and any help you have given, it truly warms the heart xx

08.01.2022 Thanks again for your support so far. The brumbies are in reasonable condition but full of worms. We will need to worm them as soon as we can, handle the colts in particular, and then get them gelded. If you would like to help us with the basic care of these beautiful horses, and to educate them to be able to be rehomed - please donate.

07.01.2022 The girls are out in the bigger paddock now and much more comfortable. With the fires around they will be safer out of the timber yards. The colts and fillies are still in steel yards at the moment. Thanks to the fire threat over the last week or so we have had no time to work with them, but with weather cooler for the next few days Im hoping that will change. We have been in limbo out here. Half the horses have been moved, valuables still packed up and my office spread from here to Broulee! But at least we are safe at this stage and my heart goes out to all those who have lost so much. Thankyou to the firies who are doing such a fantastic job.

07.01.2022 UPDATE We have found a home for Hope! We thank everyone that offered help. Once reception permits we will be posting for homes for our other horses. Keep posted URGENT REHOMING!!... Due to the bushfires and the devastation of our property we are being forced to make some tough decisions. Our lovely girl Hope needs a home in the NEXT 2 DAYS. She is a beautiful soul that loves a cuddle and would be a fantastic companion animal. She is only 12 years old and keeps weight on fantastically. Standardbred. Due to a neurological condition that affects her walking she cannot be ridden but is no danger on the ground. Free to a good, legitimate home. Can transport within a reasonable distance of BATEMANS BAY. PLEASE SHARE WE NEED A HOME FOR HER

05.01.2022 The brumbies are doing very well. Happily eating their hay, getting used to us being around, and we have started working with them. The colts are first on the list as we want to have them gelded when we can. Our plan is to train the colts and fillies so they can be handled, and possibly saddle train the mares (depending on their estimated age once they have seen the dentist), and decide which ones will be retained for our Equine Therapy program - which will focus mainly on pe...ople with PTSD. The rest will be rehomed - but only under an adoption agreement - which means they cant be sold or bred. When we have worked out which ones will stay here, we will then post which ones are available. An application to adopt form will be available then for anyone that is interested in giving the brumbies a home. Any applicants will need to provide proof of experience with young horses, photos of the facilities/property where they will be kept and be prepared to send us photos and updates if adoption is approved. To give you an idea of the costs to rescue these guys, the transport was $1650. Currently the brumbies are eating about 2 bales of hay per day ($44 approx). Gelding each of the colts will probably come in at about $350 each - but I have to confirm that with the vet. Potentially around $1750. Dental for each is $65 - $650. Hoof trimming $55 each - $550. Those are the approx costs at Day 10 that cant be avoided. That comes to $5040.

04.01.2022 Thanks to those of you who have responded. At this stage we will still be taking 10 brumbies here. Some of them will be available for adoption over the next few months once they have been worked with and assessed and the colts all gelded. The rest will stay here for our equine therapy program and be available at a later date. Over the next week we will take expressions of interest from people to get another load, but, after some of the responses weve had, they can only be a...dopted through our charity and proof of facilities and ability to care for the horses needs to be assessed. As per our and the NPWS guidelines. These are unhandled wild brumbies straight from Kosciusko Park and need to go to experienced homes. If you wish to take on 5 or more contact NPWS and arrange directly with them. We have been flat out getting this organized and looking after the other rescues we have in care so apologies if we have not been super quick to respond to your queries. We will post photos of the Brumbies arrival but will be busy all day and may not be able to get back to further queries until later today. Thank you for your support!

03.01.2022 URGENT REHOMING!! Due to the bushfires and the devastation of our property we are being forced to make some tough decisions. Tambo is a 10 year old Standardbred gelding. He is in need of a forever home. Tambo needs to be kept on his own as he often doesnt play nice with others, particularly geldings. He is tricky to catch, but once caught he is very personable and loves a cuddle. He is an intermediate ride and has been on trails Free to a good, legitimate home. Can transport within a reasonable distance of BATEMANS BAY. PLEASE SHARE WE NEED A HOME FOR TAMBO

03.01.2022 Sad day as we rehome more of our beautiful horses. The majority of the brumbies that we saved from the last KNP cull, are on their way to the lovely Colleen at VBA. It has been a heart wrenching decision, but we have to act in the best interest of the Brums. Without enough continuing feed sources through the coming months and into winter, and with burnt out pastures, training facilities and fencing, we are unable to sustain keeping them here. The rebuild process is simply going to take too long. I will miss them all so much, especially little Pheonix and his antics, but I know they will be well looked after where they are going. Thank you Colleen for offering them a home and a bright future.
