22.01.2022 2020 WELLINGTON BOOT RACES ART COMPETITION !!! There were 8 art/paintings and 1 sculpture received by Wellington Arts this year. Thursday 2 April the jud...ging was conducted by Wellington Race Club President Ian Darney and Racing Committee member Peter Barton. Both of the judges had a keen eye for detail and took their time assessing correct form and content of the entries, as the winning artwork will be poster promoting 2021 races. The judges made complimentary comments about each and every entry. While the number of entries have been impacted by the recent isolation rules Wellington Arts was thrilled to receive entries and the quality did not disappoint. All art works are for sale and are on exhibition in the windows of Western Stores building in the centre of Wellington. This years winning art entry was..... Barbara Preston !

06.01.2022 Unfortunately due to covid-19, Wellington Arts has made the heavy hearted decision that Fong Lees Lane is NOT going to go ahead in 2020 regardless of the plans submitted to Council. This wonderful event is all about 'bringing community together', but with the space and fantastic number of attendees, it doesn’t quite meet the COVD-19 guidelines. We will have to wait until October 2021 when we hope to run it and can fully comply with potential new safe distancing rules.

01.01.2022 Wellington Arts Community Raffle. The raffle was drawn on Saturday 16 May and all the recipients and business houses were very pleased with the outcomes. Unfortunately due to some businesses being closed and sorting out the distancing rules we drew the raffle 3 weeks later than advertised. The raffle was initiated from $900 of funds donated into buckets at Fong Lees Lane event held in late October 2019. After much debate at our monthly meetings Wellington Arts secretary Nata...cha Richards suggested the money be circulated back into the community through some of the businesses that support Wellington Arts. Gift certificates were bought at 19 different businesses and raffle tickets were sold from late January until the end of March at the participating businesses. The money raised from the sale of the raffle tickets will now be circulated back into the community through businesses again with the purchase of more gift certificates. Definitely a Win-Win situation given the impacts of the drought on our township and now COVID-19. Wellington Arts advises that all certificates will be honored after the June 30 expiry date and also when some shops resume business with open doors. We are looking forward to running the next round of raffle ticket sales to hopefully be drawn prior to Christmas so as to increase local shopping opportunities for businesses. If you wish to get involved please contact Lisa Thomas 0439 259 522 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who purchased tickets.
