25.01.2022 The Food Angels, operating from Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, play a big role in nurturing vulnerable communities through the gift of food. In bet...ween feeding around 400 people per fortnight in the Sydney CBD, they managed to find some time to prepare and pack these amazing foodbank packages for our families. Packed with care and goodness, its been an absolute pleasure distributing these packages to our clients today.

This week in NSW Parliament I had the opportunity to commend and acknowledge the efforts of Food Angel Wakeley for their ongoing support of our local community and for their extraordinary efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Joe and his remarkable volunteers dedicate a lot of time and effort to ensure Food Angel has the capacity to provide year-round assistance to struggling families with access to hampers of fresh grocery items at heavily discounted prices. On behalf of a very grateful electorate, thank you to everyone at Food Angel Wakeley for your continued hard work and dedication to families throughout our region.

12.01.2022 I recently had the honour to present the Hansard transcript of a Community Recognition Statement I gave in the NSW Parliament to Bishop Mar Mari from Christ The... Good Shepherd Church Wakeley, Joe Kakos and volunteer workers from Food Angel. While I was there I took the opportunity to chat about the great work this organisation does and the extra challenges they had to face during the COVID-19 lockdown period earlier this year. Id like to thank the team for doing such a fantastic job and for the ongoing support they give to those doing it tough in our community.

12.01.2022 Yesterday the Fairfield Electorate office hosted an afternoon tea in honour of Mrs Rasha Daniel to celebrate her Nomination for NSW Woman of the Year. We were j...oined by Rasha, her husband Joe and His Grace Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel of Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley. Rasha is the driving force behind Food Angel, a non-profit organisation that provides fresh food at minimal cost for those in our community who are in need. Rasha also lends her support to members of our community in other ways. A devoted member of Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, she has been volunteering and assisting those in need for the past fifteen years. Rasha came to Australia in 2002 speaking no English and leaving her family behind. Although heartbroken at being separated from her family, she rose to the challenge and not only adjusted to life in Australia but was eager to help others do the same. She is now a loving wife and mother to three children. When I asked Rasha how she does it, she simply said "God" and attributes her energy and dedication to divine inspiration. Rasha is a valued member of our community. She has assisted many refugees with settling into Australian life, helping them to acquire the necessary skills for completing tasks such as catching public transport to how to open a bank account. Not to mention her mammoth effort with Food Angel, the running of which is a full-time job. Patient and serene, Rasha is a woman who can never say no to a person in need. In the past she and her husband have even hosted people in their own home when they needed a place to stay. Rasha is well-deserving of her Nomination for NSW Woman of the Year and I once again offer my sincere congratulations on such an achievement. Well done, Rasha!
