25.01.2022 Warehouse Revamp As the COVID-19 domino effect stretches our capacity Foodbabank NSW & ACT is expanding its storage capabilities. Next week 80 more pallet spots will be ready to go to store, sort, pack and then distribute key staples to hungry Aussies this Christmas and beyond. ... A special thanks to Unistor and Sandrick Project Directions who have brought about the 1.2 million dollar revamp on time and on budget. And thanks to the NSW Government for the 700K contribution. We've been non-stop over the past two years from drought, floods, bush fires and now COVID-19 we want to make sure we can stock and supply food when it's needed most. #hungerfighters #strongertogether

25.01.2022 Thank you Lisa Messenger! In a year that has shaped up to be one of challenges and many hurdles, one thing is for sure, we have made some great friends and felt very supported When bushfires ravaged thousands of communities around our country, the lovely Lisa Messenger rallied her amazing followers to get behind us to raise funds and source key essential items so we could distribute to those in need urgently.... Lisa has yet again gone above and beyond for us, donating 12 huge pallets filled with copies of three of her best sellers - 'Breakups & Breakthrough', 'Money & Mindfulness' and ;'Life & Love'. Thank you Lisa, your generosity is truly inspiring! #HungerFighter #LifeandLove

23.01.2022 HAMPER LOVE As school is winding down for 2020 we wanted to say a big thank you to St Philip's Christian College - Port Stephens for donating and all their hard work in supporting Foodbank NSW & ACT. 21.01.2022 Today, we revealed the state of the nation's food insecurity and just how #COVID19 has impacted the lives of many. Launched today, the Foodbank Hunger Report 2020 unsurprisingly details we have not reached ‘peak hunger’ in this pandemic and it has left many in its wake struggling to put food on the table. On average, the overall demand for food relief has increased by 47% and charities are now reporting a further jump of 25% since JobSeeker and JobKeeper were reduced at the ...end of September leading charities to believe they will need up to extra 2.7 million meals a month as Government assistance is further wound back. To read the full report head to www.foodbank.org.au/foodinsecurity/ #ZeroHunger #FoodbankHungerReport2020 #FeedingHungryAussies

20.01.2022 We love to chat with our charity partners when they come into our warehouse. Mohamad and Musleh are from Australian Pacific Community, a team of volunteers on the ground, distributing food where it's needed most. The fresh fruit and veg is really crucial right now." #WeAreStrongerTogether #HungerFighters

19.01.2022 As of today, The NSW Rural Fire Service calls a start to the statutory bushfire danger period. Less than six months since the end of black summer, many Aussies are still picking up the pieces and Foodbank is still providing support. A big thank you to Ahn, Daanish, Justin and HelloFresh for donating 1,000 meal boxes for our charity partners to distribute to families along the south coast. ... "We donate to Foodbank NSW & ACT regularly. Under the current climate we wanted those affected by the bushfires to know that they are not forgotten." It's a relief that Australia is reportedly unlikely to see a return of the historic and widespread bushfires over the next three months thanks to wetter conditions lowering the risk of major fires. #HungerFighters #WeAreStrongerTogether

09.01.2022 Floods are not a new thing for some locals in NSW. One local Wingham resident has proof on her wall! Marking this flood as some 15 centimetres higher than the deluge that hit her home back in 1978. Back in the day media reported, "Taree, Wingham and outlying centres were completely isolated by rising flood waters back in 78 too. About 70 homes in Taree and Wingham had to be evacuated while air force helicopters were called in to winch stranded people from roof tops" As Food...bank NSW & ACT continues to support those in the clean up, we have found many locals who have lost everything only an exterior shell of homes remain. "This time round, we had to wake our next door neighbours before the peak waters hit in the middle of the night. They have only lived here a few years and didn't know what was coming." "We packed up all that we could and headed to higher ground." #HungerFighters #StrongerTogether
