25.01.2022 It’s a daisy earring kind of day. Charlee has come out with some new acrylic earrings that are in my list of ‘Things To-Buy’ . @charlees.creations . . #daisy #daisyearrings #mixedmediaartist #offtowork #arttherapy #greyhair #happy #spring

25.01.2022 My rainbow chairs around our dining table are one of my favourite furnishings in my house. There are eight chairs which are scattered throughout the house, some of them are in dire need of a touch up. What’s your favourite piece of furniture? #homedecor #home #furniture #family

22.01.2022 I'm looking forward to getting back into art journalling workshops with my gals. It's been a long 4 weeks off, but it was worth it to just stop and do nothing. Look out 2021.....here we come

21.01.2022 This past week my artsy people explored the art of vintage techniques. We created texture in the background with patterned paper (see last pic) gesso, crackle medium, glazing, stamping, splatters and framing to compliment the collage images I gave them to create a cluster. I love all of these techniques and with the right colour combinations of creams, browns and blacks will turn any page into a piece of vintage deliciousness . . . . #vintage #vintageartjournalpage #artjournal #mixedmedia #collage #soulfood #artsy #artistherapy #creativity #butterflies #artist #floral @ Art is Therapy

21.01.2022 With social distancing being an important part of minimising the curve of Covid-19 my workshops will be dropping numbers from 8 to 4 attendees. This will start as of next weeks classes and workshops until further notice. Please book in with payment to confirm place. If there is a challenge with numbers wanting to attend then we will look at taking it in turns so that the regulars have a fair go. When entering the space, please wash your hands and use sanitizer. When leaving... please use wash hands and is sanitizer. Thank you Stay safe

20.01.2022 Watching my creative gals turn artsy messes like this into meaningful pages is why I love doing what I do. . #artjournaling #fromtheheart #arttherapy

19.01.2022 I made two batches of soap on the weekend. Making the lye was a bit intimidating but with the right safety equipment (goggles and gloves) it was a breeze. I used lavender oil for the first batch (which are the small bars) and no oils or fragrances for the larger batch. I prefer the unscented ones if I’m honest. They are very very rustic, which I like. I think everyone is going to get handmade soap and shampoo bars for Chrissy this year . #handmade #soapmaking #firsttime #keepingitnatural #

19.01.2022 Finally finished this little bedside table that needed some freshening up. I bought it for 30bucks on buy swap sell and even though I liked the idea of just freshening up the inside with white paint, I had to go a little bit quirky and add colour and patterned paper. After all it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right?! So I sanded her and stripped back the lacquer to get rid of as much of that orange colour as possible. I touched up the underneath with white, scuffing it back to be worn, then added white to the hardware. After that was dry I sanded it back to show up the lush texture. This little piece will trial several of my indoor plant before I decide which one and where. #furnituremakeover #paintingstuff #iso #todolist #homedecoration #plants

16.01.2022 I do love the colours of the #distress range.

14.01.2022 It’s a hot mess but it was 5 minutes of unstructured art play inspired by @southerngals_designs .

14.01.2022 I bought these sweet daisy earrings from a local creative soul who is such a gorgeous soul. I love how light they are in my ears and they add a little bit of sweetness to my outfits. I’m always up for supporting artists and by creatives. She has a link in her bio to her Etsy shop where she has some other treasures to buy . FYI she is also a talented graphic designer . @charlees.creations #acrylicjewellery #supportsmallbusiness #daisies #australian #youngtalent #etsy

14.01.2022 Today is the start of a #100dayproject that I am engaging in. The idea is to pick something creative and manageable to play with each day. I am choosing to do a set of prompt cards to use in my personal creative space that will challenge my creative perspective, helping me to see myself in new ways. Now this is quite personal but if you are wanting to try this challenge out, you can choose something relaxing or fun. This is the perfect time to tend to any creative needs you might have

12.01.2022 Remember if you’re not speaking it you’re storing it and that gets heavy This is exactly why I use narrative therapy and art therapy with clients that are weighed down by unresolved trauma, complex grief, anxiety, depression or other mental health challenges. Don’t store it, find a therapist who can support you through the tough times, it’s the best long term investment for you that you can make. #mentalhealth #arttherapy #narrativetherapy #trauma #traumasupport #selfcare #goldcoast #counselling #caringaboutyou

11.01.2022 Day 2 #100daysproject and I’ve chosen to make art journaling and art therapy prompt cards. You can choose to do anything for 100 days but me being a lover of artsy play, it was easy to choose something crafty. 09.01.2022 Hey there, I hope you are all doing as well as you can during this time. Me? I have been making the most of this situation by attending to odd jobs that I have put on the back burner for too long ;) I have also been looking at stock in my shop and have decided to place an order with my distributor so thought it might be nice to check in with you all and see if there is anything people are after. I can see if it is an option in their warehouse and if so then I will request a ...deposit of 50% to secure the item. Please message me to request products and we will go from there. Wishing you all the best. Katy

08.01.2022 Day 4 of #100dayproject2020 I’m making prompt cards for use with art journalling. This card was inspired by Terry @lyntlyn who first introduced the idea to me of using song lyrics to inspire or become the focal of the project. Thanks Terry for bringing that into my creative world . #100daysofpromptcards #making #creating #fromtheheart #artjournalprompts #artsy #craft #iso #activity

04.01.2022 Well it’s been a long business building, skills forming, 6/7 years in my little art therapy studio at Wesley Mission Robina and sadly I have closed the doors to this space . The people there have been amazingly supportive and encouraging as well as pivotal in how my business has been shaped. I will now be offering mobile services to NDIS clients as this is where this journey has taken me. I’ll also be running group workshops in paint pouring, abstract mixed media canvas classes as well as my usual social art journalling classes. I will be focusing on my studies to complete a bachelors in Counselling and an advanced diploma in trans personal art therapy so I can follow my passion for engaging with community groups and bringing colour to those who seek out change. A BIG thank you to those who have been on this journey with me

04.01.2022 I studied NLP over 12 years ago and have been using metaphors ever since. As an art therapist, I have found them to be particularly helpful and valuable when clients are looking at different perspectives. For example, a person may include a river in their exploration of a situation, signifying how sad a situation is. They are exposing the ‘river of tears’ that they are experiencing. Metaphors show up as shapes, colours, smells, sounds and also feelings. Try it for yourself. Using whatever you have, paper, pencils, markers, paint or even images from a magazine. Draw, paint or find an image that you could see as an example of freedom. Look at colours and shapes, think of smells, imagine sounds, feel the feeling. Explore the image and see what you learn about yourself in the process. Have fun.

04.01.2022 I’ve had such a creative weekend with @kylietout from @scrappingclearly . This was my first ever cyber crop and we were spoilt with some amazing creatives who shared their process with us. I still have lots of challenges to complete and that is perfect to keep me busy while we are isolating. Some of our teachers were @scrapwitchlisa @dinawakley @aidadomisiewicz @leanne_j_art @tiddlypeep @michellegrantdesigns just to name a few. It’s fair to say that I’m hooked now and want to join every cyber crop and also book myself into a retreat to just hang with some very cool and wickedly funny creatives. #art #isolation #cybercrop #scrapbooking #mixedmedia #hookedoncraft #2020 @ Gold Coast, Queensland

01.01.2022 Trying out @montmarteart Pre-mixed pouring paint. It’s a little bit too thick and didn’t have much cell action BUT the colours are lovely and the pigment is intense so the next pour I will add a little bit of floetrol and see if that improves the fluidity and cell action. This is pretty though #paintour #acrylicpaintpouring #funart #creativeactivity #relaxing
