11.01.2022 As we head towards the completion of our store expansion we’re taking a little trip down memory lane. We gained the Foodland banner in 1998 and in 1999 we doubled the building size and added the car park. Before that we were a Foodtown supermarket. It was a $1 million expansion that saw us purchased four buildings alongside of us to make way for the building expansion and the carkpark. The fronts of the buildings knocked down were kept by the National Trust. (Photos by Ruth Smith).

09.01.2022 And just like that the last piece of the wall is down. Great teamwork by Wayne Hill, Lloyd Morris, Terry Redden and Jeff Ingram. (You can hear a joyous Mike Smith in the background. His concerns for the Vegemite were unfounded!)

06.01.2022 Wow what a year 2020 has been! A year like we’ve never experienced before in our 56 year history. A year that had us putting limits on groceries and arrows down the aisles but regardless we end the year feeling grateful and extremely blessed to be part of this community. To our amazing staff, who have risen to every challenge we were faced with, we say THANK YOU. We could not have a better team helping and supporting us. THANK YOU SO MUCH Thank you also to our customers and ...local community who have been patient and understanding, loyal and supportive. Without your patronage we would not be here. Shopping has been a roller coaster ride this year with hoarding, product limits, empty selves, restrictions and now a construction site as we work towards bringing you a bigger and better place to shop - and we’re only half way done with more walls coming down in the new year. We hope the new year brings good health and happiness for you all. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Megan & Mike Smith, Jasmyn, Jace & Brayden, Dylan & Nicole, Gabi & Lloyd. See more

06.01.2022 Slowly getting there with the aisle extensions. The next stage is to relay all the groceries into their new sections.

05.01.2022 New fridges and freezers starting to go in. The new floor is starting to take shape. By knocking out the back wall we’ve created an huge amount of space!!

05.01.2022 This is the new space ready to be filled with more groceries. We created this space by knocking down the staff room, three offices, a double story storage area and even two toilets. Steel beams had to be put in the ceiling and vertical posts have been put up to support where main structural walls have been knocked down. It’s been a massive effort by Wayne & Mitchell Hill, Garry Rapko and Richard Goldney. The lighting was done by Jeff Ingram at Switchworx Electrical and painting by Terry Redden. Now we start the huge task of putting up more shelving and filling it with stock. And yes, most things will be moved and it’s going to take some time to work out where everything is but we will be providing maps!!

05.01.2022 NEW STOCKIST ALERT The friendly team at Foodland Balaklava are now stocking the full range of your favourite South Aussie Rub & Grub seasonings/rubs!! Thanks for supporting local guys #mightsouthaussies

05.01.2022 Please note: Frozen food is still available but you need to ask someone to get it for you. We apologise for the inconvenience but we’ll soon have bigger and better freezers providing you with a large range of frozen foods.

05.01.2022 Progression photos. Loving the new floor.

04.01.2022 The walls are coming down and two semi trucks are expected to arrive today from Qld with our brand new freezers!! The fridges pictured will be pushed back into the space created behind by knocking down the wall. We apologised for the noise but we plan to get this done as quickly as possible!

03.01.2022 Did you know our family have been in the grocery and fresh food industry for almost 58 years? Neville and Ruth Smith started in 1963 and over the years we have grown our business into the Foodland supermarket you see today and in the next few weeks you’ll see it get even bigger!! (Disclaimer: the specials in the ad are from 2013 and are not available at this time).

01.01.2022 Amidst all the chaos in our store yesterday when lockdown was announced, our family were dealing with another crisis which ended up with a fairytale ending.
