22.01.2022 I have worked with a number of female athletes whose body, mind and capacity to live the life they want to live has been severely impacted by harmful coaching programs. While these athletes won medals and accolades they've paid a hefty price. Women in sport deserve evidence based programming which supports their physical and mental wellbeing, both short and long term. https://youtu.be/qBwtCf2X5jw

18.01.2022 At Food Mind Body we echo the sentiments of Centre For Integrative Health regarding the new Medicare eating disorder funding. We see this as an important step forward in improving access to treatment for many individuals living with an eating disorder, while recognising not all will feel represented in the eligibility criteria. For clients of FMB, please chat with us at our upcoming session and we can offer additional information.

12.01.2022 Tomorrow marks the introduction of additional Medicare funding for individuals living with eating disorders. Food Mind Body's Shane Jeffrey is a member of the Eating Disorders Working Group of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) Review Taskforce, and has pulled together a great summary of what it's all about. Check it out! https://www.foodmindbody.com.au//medicare-item-numbers-fo/

06.01.2022 Let's celebrate women in sport!
06.01.2022 JK Rowling // "Fat’ is usually the first insult a girl throws at another girl when she wants to hurt her. I mean, is ‘fat’ really the worst thing a human bei...ng can be? Is ‘fat’ worse than ‘vindictive’, ‘jealous’, ‘shallow’, ‘vain’, ‘boring’ or ‘cruel’? Not to me; but then, you might retort, what do I know about the pressure to be skinny? I’m not in the business of being judged on my looks, what with being a writer and earning my living by using my brain I went to the British Book Awards that evening. After the award ceremony I bumped into a woman I hadn’t seen for nearly three years. The first thing she said to me? ‘You’ve lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw you!’ ‘Well,’ I said, slightly nonplussed, ‘the last time you saw me I’d just had a baby.’ What I felt like saying was, ‘I’ve produced my third child and my sixth novel since I last saw you. Aren’t either of those things more important, more interesting, than my size?’ But no my waist looked smaller! Forget the kid and the book: finally, something to celebrate! I’ve got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don’t want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I’d rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny a thousand things, before ‘thin’. And frankly, I’d rather they didn’t give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do. Let my girls be Hermiones, rather than Pansy Parkinsons." #harrypotter #jkrowling See more

01.01.2022 Eating disorders are a GENETIC ILLNESS. ' By showing the role genetics plays in anorexia nervosa we should be able to remove any remaining stigma associated with the condition for patients and their families especially parents. https://www.qimrberghofer.edu.au//australian-researchers/
