25.01.2022 WINTER IS OVER ! We are Spring Cleaning the Framing Department and have many many many frames to clear out. Odd sizes, end of run mouldings, refurbished frames, some shop-soiled with minor defects, some empty, most with glass and backing, LOTS of them from a CRAZY $5.00. They won't last, they will fly out the door, hurry in and scoop up a bargain .... or two !

24.01.2022 Each year Foons Photographics are proud to support the annual Wonthaggi Rotary Club Dinner Auction. It seems this year our donation of a large canvas panel depicting an early 1978 aerial image of the local CBD , was a popular item. We are glad this helped raise much needed funds for there community work. I thought this would be a good time for a shameless plug about our large format photo printing service. 23.01.2022 With the closure of Hazelwood Power Station a week ago, it reminded me of what a landmark it has been over my lifetime. Every trip to the Latrobe Valley would be made with the anticipation of how the view would look as I came over the final range of hills to reveal the valley ahead. It was never the same, but always had the Hazelwood station prominent in the landscape. These are two of my favourite pictures I have made over the years that show the moods that were created by mother nature and this landmark.

22.01.2022 On a job last week doing a simple Real Estate assignment and copped a gorgeous sundown. When I thought it couldn't get any better, a low flying flock of Ibis came from nowhere and gave me a beautiful injection of nature. Yes I could have done lots of things to achieve the same effect on the computer but its so cool when it happens naturally.

18.01.2022 This is one of the earliest aerial photos you will find of Cape Paterson. Morris Foon took this in the early 60’s during a Surf Life Saving Club beach carnival. It depicts the town as a sparse settlement of only a few dozen homes. We have a few of thes rare pictures on hand and they are the perfect present to hang in your dad’s man cave or pool room.

But there is a beautiful image I made recently that I feel compelled to share with you. These boisterous twins were a challenge to photograph but it felt awesome to find this moment in time captured amongst the final shots. Intertwined and anonymous, this image says a lot about the relationship between twins. We love making memories in our studio.

12.01.2022 Well that was a challenge. We just completed a mammoth panorama of early Wonthaggi (1918 to be exact) This image printed on canvas measures 3 metres long. The detail of the town and its buildings is amazing. A testament to the photographers of the day and what they were able to create with basic equipment and limited resources. Copies of this historic image will soon be made available for purchase as prints and canvas panels. A perfect gift idea for that difficult person who ...has everything. This one will be hanging on the walls of Rose Lodge very soon!

10.01.2022 I found an image in my files recently from the early 1980's. The Bakery Restaurant was the premier restaurant and reception venue for many years in Wonthaggi. Built in the original Co_op Bakery building hence the name. Over the years we shot many weddings in here and had many family celebrations on those special occasions. The building eventually was vacated and fell into disrepair, so badly so that it was demolished and the site levelled. I hope this picture brings back some memories for those who spent a special evening or two here.

08.01.2022 Well its that time of year I lend a hand to the Wonthaggi Theatrical Group in promoting their annual show. This year the group is performing the musical Evita. With a small group of the cast we put together a few images for the pre promotion of the show which opens next week. With the amount of effort I could see that has gone into preparation of the sets and costuming, this show will be amazing.

02.01.2022 I have a really big thank you to make today. A few weeks ago at the the Rotary Club Australia Day Ceremony, our business was presented with a wonderful award. This award was to acknowledge the long years of service to our local community providing good service, high standards, reliability and friendliness. Pictured is Alan Foon and Valerie Foon with the award. Our business began in the mid 60's when Morris Foon, a turner & fitter in the State Coal Mine turned his love of pho...tography into a small business. His passion grew from a small home darkroom to the current service which now provides photography through the area between Port Melbourne to Orbost. Not only providing a quality service but employing and training many, many local staff in the process. We strongly believe in keeping business local so we wish to thank all of our loyal customers for their support over the years, and our wonderful staff who deliver our services. Sadly Morris passed away 2 years ago and couldn't see this award but we know how proud he would have been. See more
