24.01.2022 TAPING YOUR FOOT FOR PAIN RELIEF If you’re experiencing heel, arch or ankle pain, Taping or strapping your foot can help to take the edge off your pain! At Foot & Sole Podiatry we will assess the reason why the pain is occurring, and strap your foot directly to take pressure away! Sometimes serial taping is effective in allowing your foot pain to settle and prevent you from over compensating your walking or posture to off-load the foot which can cause another issue.... Call our Torrensville or Glenelg Clinics for a review of your foot pain today Torrensville: Ph:84502830 Glenelg: Ph: 82953200 Book Online via our website www.footsolepodiatry.com.au

23.01.2022 #Repost @goodnews_movement (@get_repost) Then 16-year-old Matthew Walzer, who has Cerebral Palsy, wrote to Nike in 2012 saying he was disappointed no athletic brand had thought to create sneakers adapted for people with disabilities like him. Part of the letter reads:... Out of all the challenges I have overcome in my life, there is one that I am still trying to master, tying my shoes. Cerebral palsy stiffens the muscles in the body. As a result I have flexibility in only one of my hands which makes it impossible for me to tie my shoes. My dream is to go to the college of my choice without having to worry about someone coming to tie my shoes everyday." Nike brought the teen visionary on to create a hinged sneaker that closes upon pressing ones heal down (see graphic above) and is therefore hands-free. The brand also worked with @wearkizik who had already developed a hands free shoe. The first completely hands-free ‘Nike FlyEase’ designed by Nike’s Toby Hatfield was unveiled today and will be available Feb 15 to select Nike members then released widely after and will cost around $120.

18.01.2022 As your feet are the farthest point from your heart and your blood has to travel all the way and fight gravity to return, it takes a real effort to get oxygen and blood all the way down to your toes. If you have any circulatory diseases such as varicose veins, oedema/swelling in the legs or peripheral arterial disease then the challenge is so much greater. This can pose a higher risk of cramping in the legs, poor healing, and pain.... Below are some healthy habits you can try to improve your circulation to legs and feet KEEP MOVING:Exercising regularly is a great way to increase circulation to the feet. No need to run a marathon but simply remembering to get up and move a bit every hour has many positive effects ELEVATE: Its important to give your feet a break. When you are resting its beneficial putting your feet up to aid the blood flow back to your heart. The best way is to prop up a few cushions or pillows under your feet/calves while you are lying flat MASSAGE: Its beneficial to massage your feet with gentle circular motions travelling from your heels to toes. Moving your feet up and down and side to side at the ankle also helps. QUIT SMOKING: Smoking causes a build-up of fatty deposits in the blood vessels and loss of elasticity of the vessel walls. If the blood cannot flow freely through the vessels, then it can block and lead to partial or total loss of circulation which could ultimately result in sores, ulceration, gangrene and amputation. CONTROL BLOOD SUGARS: it pays to keep your blood sugars under control as Diabetes can pose a higher risk for poor foot circulation If you are concerned about the circulation in your feet, Speak to your local Podiatrist who can assess the circulation in your feet and legs and provide you with advice and management to prevent any potential foot complications. #healthyfeetarehappyfeet #foothealthpractitioner #footcircirculation #hearttotoes #podiatry #podiatrist #feet #preventionbetterthancure #keepmoving #elevate #adelaidepodiatrist #glenelgpodiatrist #footsolepodiatry

13.01.2022 When was the last time you had a look at your feet? I don't mean a simple glance but a proper look One of the things that Podiatrists advocate is regularly checking your feet. This is important because if you notice any changes in the skin colour, sores or usual spots on your feet then its recommended you get it checked out early. A common problem people can get is a melanoma. A foot Melanoma is a type of cancer that affects the pigment-producing skin cells in the foot. Ar...ound 315% of melanomas occur on the foot. Melanoma is not the only type of skin cancer, however. In fact, it only accounts for about 1% of skin cancers, yet it causes the highest number of deaths of any skin cancer. Your Podiatrist can do a thorough review of any spots or lesions on feet, toes and toenails. We also strongly recommend getting your whole body checked by your GP, Dermatologist or Skin Cancer Specialist
