19.01.2022 South Australian police say NSW residents won't be allowed into the state if they've entered Victoria over a 14-day period, even after border restrictions ease ...on Thursday. Quarantine requirements for those crossing the NSW-SA border end at midnight tomorrow but residents of towns such as Buronga, Gol Gol and Wentworth won't be allowed to travel to South Australia using the Victorian stretch of the Sturt Highway, police have confirmed. "Also, NSW residents who go shopping in Victoria cannot enter SA until they have not entered Victoria for 14 days," an SA Police spokesman said. "NSW residents will have to complete a cross border travel application and in doing that, they must demonstrate, or identify, that they have not travelled into Victoria within the previous 14 days. "It is an offence to provide false information on an application or to an authorised officer."

14.01.2022 In a few more days, it will be the 100th anniversary of that day in 1920 when 53,000 people crammed into a stadium in Liverpool to watch Dick Kerrs Ladies play ...St Helen's - a women's club attendance record that stood until quite recently. The next year, women's football was banned by the Football Association via a pernicious rule that was left in place for five decades. Now, a century later, the popularity of our game is just catching up to where we were in 1920, while male football has accelerated away with facilities, revenues and wages all exponentially greater in the men's game. This article is great historical account of how women's football exploded in popularity, before it all went heart-breakingly wrong in 1921, and how these extraordinary athletes kept their sport alive during the ban. https://spartacus-educational.com/Fdickkerrs.htm As you read it, give thanks to all those women and men who have dragged our game to the present. Then play your part in supporting women and girls to have a fair shot at football, and at life. If you live in Australia, support the Westfield W-League by attending matches or watching on TV. Wherever you are, be sure to support the top women's leagues - because after 100 years, women's club football is finally gaining the professionalism that Dick Kerrs Ladies were so obviously capable of - but denied - by a decision *in which they had no say*. So, if you're involved in football governance, please ensure that the voices from the women's game are present at the table, and not bypassed or silenced, as decisions are made. "Nothing about us, without us", as the saying goes. Had this been the case in 1920, I can't help thinking that the Worst Decision Ever might have been avoided. #womensfootball

09.01.2022 The modern player requires a different coaching and mentoring skillset from the modern coach. Each day until the end of this year, we will cover some of the obs...ervations that we have made working with young boys and girls in an educational/soccer environment. MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS For as long as the game has been played, coaches have faced the challenge of being effective communicators to players. The modern player is now receiving communication and information from a variety of sources in a vast variety of formats. Some want it in text format, others prefer video, whilst some prefer face to face and in person. Yelling, screaming and creating a sense of fear are proven to be the least effective ways to communicate. Studies and science have showed us that a coach can say the same words to a group of people, but the message and interpretation can be different for each individual. This can also be seen in even more contrasting light by the most effective way to speak to female players as opposed to male players. Without generalising, we have found through research but even more importantly, from asking our players directly, that when providing feedback and advice to girls that they prefer it away from the group because by and large, girls need to bond before they can play together and feedback in front of the group can create a heightened sense of self-consciousness. Boys on the other hand need to compete first to bond. Think back to your childhood when a boy has a physical fight with another boy. Often they will end up becoming friends after the scuffle. All of this goes back to our overriding belief that the person must come before the footballer. It is impossible for you to maximise your coaching ability and knowledge if you first don't create a strong relationship with your players and staff. This bond and connection will allow you to teach and coach them without fear and without obstruction, and in turn, the engagement of the modern player will strengthen. Once they connect with you, their work-rate goes through the roof every session but more importantly, you will start to influence their lifestyle, their values and their future. Nothing can be more powerful than that in shaping the future of our sport and the world. See more

07.01.2022 "I know that I am a role model," said after becoming the first woman to referee a men's UEFA Champions League game. "Young women are watc...hing TV, so I know that if I am on the field they can see that it's possible. This is the first thing that will help some young girls to start refereeing." Frappart started to play football when she was 10 but quit at 18 to pursue her dream of becoming a referee. She has been refereeing since 2009. Three years later, she began refereeing men's football in the French third division. "I think there is not a lot of difference because football is the same. There are the same rules so I referee the same as in women's leagues." #InspireTheNextGeneration #Referee

07.01.2022 NSW AND VICTORIAN CROSS BORDER RESIDENTS ALLOWED TO MOVE FREELY WITHIN BORDER BUBBLE FROM TODAY The NSW Government has made changes to its public health order ...that now allows a resident with a valid Border Region Permit to cross the border without any particular reason. This means people can use the river, visit family and friends, shop, dine, holiday and work with a border permit within the border bubble. NSW cross border commissioner, James McTavish, says while this is good news for residents living on the border, people must still follow social distancing rules and be sensible. "If you can do something in regional Victoria you can do something in NSW," Mr McTavish said. "People must make sure they look after their own personal health, social distance and if they are unwell we ask that they get tested and don't travel into NSW." "There are restrictions for how many people you can have at home and there are substantial penalties that apply." Mr McTavish says all current permits are still valid and people don't need new permits until their old ones expire. For a permit and more information visit: https://www.nsw.gov.au//what-you-can-a/border-restrictions
