25.01.2022 Football NSW in conjunction with Canterbury & District Soccer Football Association Incorporated - CDSFA and Punchbowl United FC recently ran an 8 week Community FC program for emerging communities in the Riverwood and Punchbowl areas. Community FC is an introductory program targeted at newly arrived migrants, refugees, those from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background and Indigenous people. These programs are run for players of all ages and genders and i...s used to introduce them to grassroots football in NSW, to develop and continue their love for the game, and more importantly to have fun! Football NSW would like to thank all parties for their collaborative effort running this successful program which will see all players register with Punchbowl United for the 2021 football season. 22.01.2022 All eyes were on Football South Coast side Figtree Football Club last Friday evening when one of Australian Grassroots Football's most iconic players Peter Webster decided to call it a day at the age of 80. Yes 80. Born and bred in Preston, England, Peter, a former steelworker played for many teams in Welsh leagues in his 20s and 30s, before moving to Australia with his wife Moira and three children in 1981 where he continued to play the world game.... As well as playing his last match, Peter was also retiring as the club's groundsman. Such is his legendary status down the South Coast in the local game, there's even a competition named after him - the Peter Webster Cup. 08.01.2022 Football NSW was deeply saddened to hear the news of the tragic passing of one of our game's most liked and admired footballers, Rockdale City Suns Football Club - Ilinden's Idriss El Hafiane. The 27-year-old always had a smile on his face and was a friend, teammate and mentor to many in our game. He was a gentleman on and off the pitch.... The club will communicate information as it is received pertaining to the family's wishes for his funeral. 05.01.2022 Australian football has lost another massive icon, the great Frank Arok. The great man held a number of coaching positions which included NSW based clubs such as St George Saints Football Club, Marconi Stallions and Sydney Olympic FC as well as coaching the Socceroos in 48 internationals between 1983 and 1989. The much admired and loved former NSL coaching legend played a huge role in the development of our game and contributed to the many successes this nation experienced th...anks to his coaching philosophy. His influence on the sport resulted in Arok being made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for "service to football, particularly as the Australian national coach" in 1990. The Football NSW family wishes to pass on its deepest condolences to the Arok family, a man who was never afraid to give young footballers a chance and opportunity at the highest level. May he rest in heavenly peace
