21.01.2022 The cold chill is here! And your feet take the first hit when you poke them out from under the covers to test if you should press snooze on the alarm. So with W...inter closing is fast - it's a timely reminder to think about your footwear and simple steps you can add to your routine. #letspreventamputations #dfaguidesyouthrough #endingavoidableamputations #DFA2019 Australian Podiatry Association (Qld) Inc Australian Podiatry Association Podiatry Western Australia Pedorthic Association of Australia Wounds Australia Diabetes Queensland Advanced Practicing Podiatrists - High Risk Foot Group Regional Wounds Victoria Wound Innovations
21.01.2022 And to close out National Diabetes Week - it's REALLY about time to book in for a foot check. If you are one of the 1 million plus Australians with diabetes, ma...ke sure you book in for an annual foot assessment with your doctor or podiatrist. This will identify if you are one of the 300,000 Australians with risk factors that need more regular care for their feet. OR if you don’t have risk factors, you simply need to make sure you get your feet checked again next year. It’s easy, quick, painless and your feet will thank you for it in the long run! #NDW2019 #itsabouttime #LetsTalkAboutWounds #letspreventamputations #dfaguidesyouthrough #endingavoidableamputations #DFA2019 Diabetes Australia Diabetes Queensland Wounds Australia Australian Podiatry Association Australian Podiatry Association - NSW & ACT Office Australian Podiatry Association (Qld) Inc Australian Podiatry Associations SA WA TAS Advanced Practicing Podiatrists - High Risk Foot Group Podiatry Western Australia RACGP Australian Diabetes Society National Association of Diabetes Centres Wound Innovations
20.01.2022 Starting to develop symptoms of Mondayitis? Don’t drag your feet. Get them ready for a busy day - check them between the toes and underneath, check your shoes to ensure there is not too much wear and tear inside and out. and put moisturiser on your feet. Support your feet that support you.
19.01.2022 It's a big week, with the Australian Podiatry Conference starting in Adelaide today, and the 8th International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot about to kick off ...in the Netherlands. And with diabetic foot disease now found to cause a greater use of health and hospital services than all other common diseases, there couldn't be a better time to start a global push to end avoidable amputations within a generation. Now if you don’t happen to be hanging around the Netherlands this week, the good news is we're bringing international superstars Fran Game, Larry Lavery and Jaap van Netten down under to the DFA 2019 Conference in September. So do yourself a favour, get yourself a registration and chat with the world’s best - all without the long international flight and jetlag! https://www.diabeticfootaustralia.org/conference-2019/ #letspreventamputations #dfaguidesyouthrough #endingavoidableamputations #DFA2019 Australian Podiatry Association Advanced Practicing Podiatrists - High Risk Foot Group Wounds Australia Regional Wounds Victoria Podiatry Western Australia Wound Innovations Pedorthic Association of Australia Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons Diabetes Queensland

11.01.2022 Welcome to Foot Health Week 2019! This week, feet come first! For the next 7 days we are working with podiatrists all around Australia to spread awareness of ju...st how important your feet are. Foot conditions heavily impact our health and our communities and as university-trained lower limb experts, podiatrists are as important as ever in reducing and reversing this impact. Podiatrists are trained to diagnose, treat and maintain your feet to help you get back to living your life pain-free. Over the coming days keep an eye out on this page to learn the impact of foot health and how a podiatrist can help you. We will also share some tips and advice on things such as symptoms to look out for, how to take care of your feet, and when to take a visit to your local podiatrist. Additionally, podiatrists all over Australia are hosting events and stalls, giving free foot checks, advice and spreading the message with the community. So everyone, STAND UP FOR YOUR HEALTH! 08.01.2022 Many people do not know about the critical role that Podiatrists play in the acute NHS. A small Profession with a big impact, Podiatrists are Healthcare Profess...ionals who have been trained to assess, diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs; providing both long-term and acute (including emergency) specialist care for a wide range of patients with a variety of conditions. Podiatrists are trained to give local anaesthetic and steroid injections and prescribe antibiotics and pain medication. Some specially trained Podiatrists are also qualified to triage Orthopaedic patients, independently prescribe a larger range of medication and provide surgical intervention. From corns/calluses and painful in-growing toenails to diabetic foot ulcers, skin or bone infections and saving limbs, Podiatrists are there and always working their hardest to keep our Nation mobile and active! Many patients under the care of Podiatrists fall into high-risk categories such as those with Diabetes, or problems with the blood flow or nerve supply to their feet and lower legs; where Podiatry input is of vital importance. By managing many patients in the community either via Outpatient Clinic appointments or home visits Podiatrists are able to help reduce the rate of preventable Hospital admissions, greatly benefitting both the patient and the NHS. Failure to appropriately manage certain cases such as Diabetic patients with foot ulcers can lead to devastating consequences such as gangrene, amputation or sepsis. During the current Covid-19 situation, managing patients in the community is particularly important in ensuring that there are enough inpatient Hospital beds for those who need them, as well as in protecting those vulnerable patients from the risky Hospital environment. Via telephone triage, Podiatrists are working hard to identify those needing urgent intervention, and ensuring that they get the treatment they need regardless of their ‘Covid status’. Please put your hands (or feet!) together for our amazing Podiatrists. #onthefrontlineahps #ahpsintoaction #NHS #podiatry #HCPC #COP #coronawarriors
