13.01.2022 Stage 21 - FIFG500 was the closing competition of the 2020 Australian Open FootGolf Series. The stage awarded 4 spots for the FIFG FootGolf World Cup in the Men's category and 3 spots in the Seniors' category. The event also coincided with the first anniversary of the most important Australian triumph in the history of the game, the team event of the 2019 Yamaha FootGolf Asia Cup Wrapping up a tough year and having so much at stake, this was a weekend we will all remember: p...layers who made it to the Australian Team, those who also deserved it but just couldn't make it (yet), supporters and organisers. FootGolf is such an important part of our lives that those who achieved the goal are experiencing extreme happiness and those who could not make it are extremely disappointed. As the sport grows it will become harder and harder to find a fair way to assign spots to represent Australia in international competitions. In light of this, the highlight of the weekend for me was the sportsmanship all players showed. Respectfully celebrating and graciously coming to terms with the fact that many times things don't go your way even when you do all it takes and more: training, planning, travelling, sacrificing family time, quitting other sports to focus 100% on FootGolf. I want to thank all players for understanding when organisation is not good enough, for feeling the same way I do about the sport and making crazy efforts to always be there, for the continued support and improvement. You guys are taking the sport to the next level and are ambassadors of the sport. I feel extreme joy when I see you proudly wearing FootGolf Australia shirts as well as your Club shirts. We are a growing family, yes we are. We will continue our journey and we will have each other's backs. Competing internationally, growing the sport at the local level, gaining respect from more Golf clubs and helping them understand we are here to stay. We are FootGolf. 11.01.2022 Stage 11 - AUS 100 of the 2021 Australian Open FootGolf Series was played at Mangrove Mountain Memorial Club and Golf Course. Course was very well presented and weather was perfect for FootGolf. After an impressive front 9 with Shannon Knott and Manuel Massella on -5, things levelled in the back 9 to have a first ever 5-way tie for first position (-6): Shannon Knott, Manuel Massella, Richard Chamberlain, Cameron DI Gesu and Lucio Fiorini. After a 2-hole tie break:... - Cameron and Lucio tied for third place and Lucio won 1-0 in penalty putts - Manu and Richard tied for first and Richard won 1-0 in penalty putts Great effort by Richard Chamberlain and Mark Hale making the trip south.
