25.01.2022 It's been a year like no other, with so much anxiety, uncertainty and isolation from loved ones. Over this year we have managed to adapt and serve our local community with the many changing needs and skyrocketing demands on us. We have only been able to do this with the incredible support of our great team of volunteers and community partners. Over these past few months, we have now distributed well over 20,000 free meals plus care-packages to so many needing an extra hand up in these difficult times. 24.01.2022 We are so thankful for our volunteers at both our Upwey Community Meal on Mondays and our Ferntree Gully Community Meal on Wednesdays. This year they have adapted to the increasing restrictions that we (everyone) has had imposed on us. We have not had our dining rooms open at either meal since March, but we have continued to serve each night with freshly cooked, hearty and healthy takeaway meals. In fact, we have not missed a single night. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers for making this happen, and thank you for everyone who comes along to pick up a meal and a care package. 21.01.2022 We have had a great response to our The Big Mother's Day Drive 2021 with 250+ meals being booked already. This is our way to support our local community through the delivery of freshly cooked gourmet meals and special hampers in time for Mother's Day. 17.01.2022 Today we were making our final preparations for deliveries tomorrow of our The Big Fathers Day Drive 2020. We are looking to deliver around 650+ meals plus special gift packs to over 220 households tomorrow morning to spread some cheer during iso. At our Upwey base today, our dedicated team of volunteers put together over 400 gourmet lamb roast meals, cooking 85kg of lamb and 100's of kg of veggies. Meanwhile, in Albert Park, a team of executive chefs was producing another 40...0+ meals that include seafood, vegan and vegetarian meals for tomorrow as well. We are incredibly thankful for all who have donated their time, gifts, and supplies to make it all possible. Now we just need to wait on our dedicated volunteer drivers tomorrow morning to deliver them and spread some cheer in our local community. 17.01.2022 Over the past few weeks, it has been a real delight to once again open up our dining rooms at both our Monday night Upwey and Wednesday night Ferntree Gully community meals. It has been so great having people back inside, sitting down together and enjoying a meal. It is nothing like what it was pre COVID, and may never be like that again. We have, like everyone, have restriction limits, which for us is 50 guests inside at any time due to the size of our halls. We continue to... offer both dine-in and takeaway meals, as well as food hampers of fresh food and non-perishables. Our doors open from 4.30pm for food parcels with hot, fresh meals available around 5.15pm. We usually finish serving around 6.15pm. It has been great seeing people come and go at different times to help us manage this and the overwhelming feeling is it is great to be back open and to see many faces we haven't seen for ages. Foothills Community Care is a not-for-profit grassroots organisation that walks alongside those who are in need of a safe place to connect in the Dandenong Ranges and Knox areas of outer eastern Melbourne. Foothills Community Care has been operating since 2002 and aims to support people in our local community, especially those who are vulnerable, isolated and in need of an extra hand up. ... Since COVID restrictions we have adapted our services to continue to serve our local community with compassion and love. This year we have provided over 23,000 meals to locals in need of an extra hand up in these difficult times. Currently we are providing the following services: Monday Upwey Community Meal, a freshly made hot takeaway meal and care package served from 5.30pm at Upwey Baptist, 21 Darling Ave Upwey - no need to book. Wednesday Ferntree Gully Community Meal, a freshly made hot takeaway meal and care package served from 5.30pm at Ferntree Gully Guide Hall, 156 Underwood Rd, Ferntree Gully - no need to book. Community Casseroles, free frozen home-cooked nutritious meals delivered locally - book online DV Peer Support Group, a peer led group for women who have experienced DV, support includes weekly zoom and meals support - book online Ferntree Gully Christmas Day Lunch, providing a space for 250 people to gather together on Christmas day, including meal, entertainment and presents. 16.01.2022 Our good friends at Melbourne Basket Brigade are looking for volunteers to put together their Christmas hampers to give out to families needing an extra hand. 14.01.2022 Welcome to our Ferntree Gully Community Meal Night Facebook page. We commenced our meals night in 2007 and serve meals every Wednesday night at the Ferntree Gully Guide Hall, 156 Underwood Rd, right opposite the Ferntree Gully station, Doors open at 4.30pm for a cuppa, some nibblies (and soup in winter), a chat and home-cooked meals are served at 6.30pm. Our meals are free and open to anyone and donations are accepted, if you are interested in volunteering or donating please ...contact us. We usually have fresh produce to take away as well most nights, please byo bag. We are open every Wednesday night from the beginning of February till just before Christmas. We also operate a Monday night meal at Upwey Community Meal Night - Foothills Community Care as well as the annual Ferntree Gully Community Christmas Day Lunch Each year we provide over 9,000 free home-cooked meals across our programs. Over the past few days, it has been exciting to be receiving some of our special Foothills Christmas Reverse Advent Calendar hampers from many generous people in our community. 10.01.2022 This year continues to be a difficult one for so many. Restrictions and isolation are so hard for so many in our local community. Each Wednesday afternoon this year we have continued to serve freshly cooked hot takeaway meals and care packages from 5.30pm for so many, often distributing over 80 meals. We continue to adapt to current compliances in order to keep everyone safe and are incredibly thankful for our volunteers and community partners especially Rotary Club of Rowville-Lysterfield and Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully who have provided delicious soups and desserts over the past few months. Neither have we, but for many lucky recipients they will be tasting them this weekend as part of our The Big Fathers Day Drive 2020 These have been freshly made today with donated salmon from our good friends at Red Coral Seafood and made by great chefs such as Telina Menzies and Dylan Kemp. They have also been making their unique gourmet fish pie as well as their vegetarian creamy mushroom pasta. The final preparation are now being made for deliveries this Saturday of 630 meals to over 210 households to bring some joy in iso lockdown. 05.01.2022 We are excited to announce that our Foothills Blend, fairtrade, organic coffee beans are now being sold through our good friends at Here & There Makers 139 Boronia Road (cnr Erica Ave) Boronia . They are also a drop off point for our Reverse Advent Calendars. Check their store out, they are an eco-friendly, upcycled, fairtrade stall with loads of great Christmas ideas.

03.01.2022 It's been a tough year for us all, and we are looking forward to coming out of our stage 4 restrictions soon. We have been overwhelmed with both the genorisity of our community and the demands on our meals and support. 03.01.2022 Today our amazing team of volunteers came together to distribute over 650+ gourmet meals, and special gift packs to over 200+ households in our local community through our The Big Fathers Day Drive 2020. It has been an incredible last few weeks hearing stories from people nominating others or themselves to receive these meals in these very difficult times. Thank you to so many who supported us in this initiative, there are so many great stories coming in of thankfulness from people who can't see their loved ones at this time. Our very last delivery today went to Bayswater where the crew of Circus Royale Australia has been stranded for the past 6 months. We were able to provide a whole lot of our gourmet meals for them. 02.01.2022 We are incredibly thankful for so many of our local business partners coming on board with our Pay it Froward Program, supporting vulnerable and isolated people in these difficult times. Our latest partner is Hari Krushna Fries -HKF and their amazing Indian streetfood truck just off Burwood Hwy in Ferntree Gully. They have offered us vouchers for locals in need of some extra support to receive a free meal from their food truck. Thank you to Vinod and his great team. 01.01.2022 We have been humbled by all the great feedback from so many of the 650 people who received our special gourmet meals over the weekend as part of our The Big Fathers Day Drive 2020. We could not have done this without a huge amount of dedicated supporters, partners and volunteers.
