25.01.2022 Healthy habits and Hygiene learning this week. - Washing our hands. We have talked this morning about when we need to wash our hands...After going toilet, before eating, after playing, when we are sick were just some of the reasons we discussed. We went to the bathroom and took turns washing our hands, making sure we used soap, gave them a good wash and dried them well. I assisted the younger children. Teaching good habits from a young age, promoting independence and learning to look after ourselves.

21.01.2022 Tuesday play date with Miss Michelle and our friends. The girls enjoyed the weather chart Miss Michelle brought along to share as part of our winter topic. We will continue to learn the different seasons and weather in AusSign as we are lucky enough to have it translated in the weather chart. We did some collage craft, dressing our person in winter clothing. Enjoyed group time with our Good morning song which we are getting pretty good at being able to sign and our story called Sunshine and Snowballs, a book all about the different seasons and weather. Everyone played and interacted really well together, working together to build with the blocks (which they were super proud of) and helping each other at craft time. Our Tuesday play sessions are so much fun

17.01.2022 This morning the children requested to collage art. We had some leftover Australian maps and paper from Nadioc week with traditional aboriginal patterns and symbols, as well as Australian animals. Ayva and Noah practiced their scissor skills and pencil grip, taking their time to cut their pieces out and glue them down. I pre cut some pieces for Izzy and she practiced gluing and keeping the glue on the paper while sticking the pieces down. They also had pens to add some colo...r and their own personall touch to their artwork. We talked about what the animals were and how they were native to Australia and what the different symbols and aboriginal patterns were. Extending our learning from NAIDOC week. They all had lots of questions about what the different symbols and patterns meant and there was discussion about what part of Australia the native animals came from. Lots of great sharing happening through the activity. See more

Exploring outside looking for for leaves and collecting them for art, which we then took indoors and did some leaf painting.

14.01.2022 We enjoyed a fun filled morning in amongst nature at Indgiscapes with Miss Michelle and our friends today. Running through the bush tracks, looking out for Koalas, collecting sticks and drawing in the dirt. We met a lovely lady with her very friendly dog along the bush walk that everyone said hello to. Visited the ducks at the wetlands , reading the information signs about the area and at the outdoor adventure play area we worked on balance through the obstacles and platforms. We finished off with a picnic and on our way out we collected some information for continuation of learning about the animals that live at Indgiscapes and are native to our local area. We are very lucky to have such great places like this at our back doorstep.

09.01.2022 Emotions - Part of keeping ourselves healthy is learning what emotions are and that it's OK to feel sad or happy or silly and so on. We sang our Good Morning song, as well as signing it in sign language that we learnt yesterday. We took turns at looking at the Feelings book, discussing what each picture and emotion was. They were a little confused by all the different expressions in the book so we sang "If you're happy and you know it" and acted out the emotions both in o...ur faces and with hands and feet. It was a big hit with the boys! Their little expressions displaying each emotion are just priceless. Can you guess what they are by the pics? It's so important for our overall health and wellbeing to understand what emotions are, how they make us feel and how we process and express them See more

07.01.2022 We have been learning about Healthy habits and healthy eating so today I took the children on an excursion to the supermarket. We made a list together at home and they had input into what we should buy. We talked about the safety rules before we left and staying together for the walk there. They chose a piece of the free fruit to eat while we are shopping. We talked about what foods we needed and they helped with selecting and putting it in the trolley. As we made our way a...round the supermarket we talked about the food we were selecting, wether they were "always" food or "sometimes" food. We chose a couple of "sometimes" food too so they could understand what those foods were. I gave them $5 each to select a new item to play with at Daycare, the older children learnt about how much the item cost, wether they had enough money and how much change they would get, while learning what the different money looked like. While Izzy is a bit little to understand the concept, but she liked being included. At the end of the shopping the lady from Woolworths was so impressed with what she had seen with the children shopping and helping she gave them each a book to take home. Go Woolworths! We all had lots of fun and so many learning experiences were had in one visit to the supermarket. See more

05.01.2022 Noah asked for the alphabet cards, we set them up together singing the ABC song as we did it. Ayva came over and joined in. We got out the picture cards and they both took turns choosing a picture. Looking at the first letter of the word we found the matching letter, saying the sound as we put it next to the picture. Then putting all 3 together, what the letter is, the sound it makes and what the word is that starts with that letter. When we put the letters back we sang the ABC song to figure out which place the letter belonged. Child led literacy learning.
05.01.2022 The kids wanted to play a game of chase, I reminded them that inside we can only walking feet. This led them to start marching together. Noah told me they were a marching band. I put on some music and Ayva added in musical instruments to their marching band. They marched, played their instruments, danced and sang along to the music. Lots of giggles and so much fun!

02.01.2022 Abe doing really well at the small parts table this morning. Learning the grasp technique with the tongs. With some encouragement and me demonstrating he picked it up quickly and was able to manipulate and grab some of the small pieces. Ive added the cotton balls to the table today for sensory after a few children were uncomfortable with the texture of them at a craft activity last week.
01.01.2022 Ava and Noah tell me they are painting storm clouds. They can hear the thunder outside and Ava is a bit scared by it so we sit together and paint to distract from the noise. We will have some discussions to extend and learn about storms and what causes the thunder and lightening.
