05.01.2022 We would like to congratulate former Footprints staff member, Bridie Stewart on the recent paper she co-published on "The recovery model in chronic mental health: A community-based investigation of social identity processes". People with chronic and severe mental health conditions often have limited opportunities to develop positive and destigmatised social identities. The study focused on people with chronic and severe mental health conditions who attended recovery-oriented ...support groups at Footprints. The study found that when people identified more strongly as being in recovery, they reported better recovery outcomes (e.g. sense of purpose) and reduced psychological distress. The study explores how recovery-oriented support groups may help people to develop a recovery identity. We would also like to thank Bridie for acknowledging Footprints in the paper.
