25.01.2022 Sharing some information, if you know of a young person that is a carer this is an opportunity for them to have a say in developing a program to help others like themselves - Young Carers we want to hear from you! Are you under 25 years old and provide support to a family member or friend living ... with a disability, long-term health condition, mental health condition or problems related to old age? Henry carer to his mother Wellways is looking to develop a Young Carer Program and we need your help. As a young carer, you understand the needs associated with your caring role you are the expert! We’re inviting you to share your experience of being a young carer over morning or afternoon tea and help us develop a program designed specifically for young carers. As a thank you, all participants will receive a gift voucher for your time and feedback. 20.01.2022 sharing info on a great group starting up for women who have experienced domestic violence - here is a copy of all the information that you need to know if you are interested. OURNEYS a group for women A free, confidential seven week group program ... for women who have experienced violence and/or other forms of abuse in their intimate relationships. This group will be facilitated by two domestic violence support workers and will combine therapeutic and educational components. The group will address issues such as: the impact of violence and abuse on women and children safety for both women and children personal strengths and resourcefulness. The group will encourage women to: look after their physical and emotional well being explore their thoughts and feelings rebuild their confidence and self esteem build positive and supportive relationships with others gain information that will allow them to make informed choices and regain control over their lives. It’s an Australian government initiative in partnership with ANZ bank & The Smith Family for Logan and South Brisbane. The program is designed to encourage low income families to save. The ‘carrot’ is ANZ will match a person’s savings up to $500. ... Eligibility - 18yrs + - Child at school, starting school next year or student themselves - Healthcare or Pension Card - Additional income ie part time work, child support, board payments The program is designed to increase financial awareness/education but also develop a savings habit. The person elects to complete online or face to face fin ed classes. Online @ 8 x 10 minute videos (1hr in total) or 2 x 5hr classes in community. The person opens an ANZ progress savings account and agrees to save up to $50 every month consistently and consecutively for 10 months. The person is eligible to access the matched savings only after 10 months, which is deposited into their progress savings account, only after the person provides evidence of intended education item. They don’t have to buy the item, or ask to be reimbursed, just evidence of what they intend to save for
