15.01.2022 I've seen some amusing interpretations of bovine behaviour over the years. Misused terminology, random creations of cow phrases and pretty outlandish management... claims typed from the fingers of 'those who do not approve of our care and management of production animals", (or urban journos in brave attempts to sound knowledgeable), but one that gets me every time is the "forceful impregnation" or "rape" of a cow. The phrase/s come directly from the bible of 'Emotively Interpreted Misinformation' authored by the animal rights cult leaders and blindly, naively repeated by their sheeples. Whilst ever a healthy, sexually mature bovine is not in calf, every 21 days for about 8 hours, her behavior becomes really quite remarkable. An uninhibited lust bag driven by hormones to mate. She'll 'ride' whatever tickles her fancy. I've seen in season (bulling, on heat) show heifers jump their handler, fences considered non existent, bulls flirtatiously treated like play things... until he gets on board, so to speak. They'll bellow, pace, let the world know exactly what they want and THEY WANT IT NOW. (there are also the stealthy, silent, shy types- they still want the same thing but prefer the less obvious approach). Regardless of whether a cow is AI'd (artificially inseminated) or mated naturally with a bull, impregnation cannot be forced. The egg will not be receptive to fertilisation at any other time. AI is simply a management tool. (that can be deemed to be much more gentle than a bull). Any debate regarding a negative impact on the cow's welfare, with AI, is simply ignorant of the process. She can no more be forcefully impregnated than that bull she is jumping be raped!!!! Laugh or cry? Not understanding bovine behaviour is perfectly acceptable (and quite normal if you never work with them), but truly critics, if you don't understand, perhaps you should just shoosh. Or ask and listen. It would create a far more complimentary perception of your intelligence. See more
