16.01.2022 Give a child an abacus frame and theyll love the colours and clicking sounds it makes. Spend time with a child with patience, explanation, nurturing, hypothesising & with encouragement watch their skills and capabilities come to life. Introducing mathematical and concepts of patterns is a life long skill that can be established in the early years of a childs life

09.01.2022 Have you visited our community street library? It's lovely to see the children bringing in books to share with their friends and neighbours as the love of literacy becomes part of their daily or weekly routine. Simply take a book that interests you & feel free to leave one to share with someone else

08.01.2022 Do you let your child play outside in light rain? The experience of playing outdoors in the rain helps children learn to test slippery paths before stepping on them, avoid deep puddles and take advantage of more shallow puddles, and keep their balance in different types of shoes.

01.01.2022 We are all born with emotions, but not all those emotions are pre-wired into our brains. Children are born with emotional reactions such as crying, frustration, hunger and pain. But they learn about other emotions as they grow older. There is no general consensus about the emotions that are in-built verses those learned from emotional, social and cultural contexts. It is widely accepted, however, that the eight primary in-built emotions are anger, sadness, fear, joy, interest..., surprise, disgust and shame. These are reflected in different variations. At Footsteps ELC we believe in the importance of helping children to recognise their feelings and emotions and assist them to correctly identify these emotions. It is here that resilience begins to form, a childs sense of worth is created and the overall positive well-being of a child positively grows

01.01.2022 Turning into a sea of color today saw the children celebrate & acknowledge St Patricks Day
