Further restrictions have been placed on allied health care for the safety and health of our extended Melbourne community. This is a rollercoaster no one expected to be on, but as health professionals we take our small role in guiding our community through this pandemic very seriously. Allied Healths ability to practice in these Stage 4 restrictions from Victorias Chief Allied Health Officer: "Routine services are not permitted. Care must only be provided if the absence, or delay of this care would result in significant change/deterioration in the patients functional independence necessitating escalation of care (further care, specialist review, or hospital admission)". This means we remain essential to some, but not all. Our team is working hard to contact each of you who has an appointment during this lockdown period to triage how you are and schedule as appropriate. 15.01.2022 CLINIC UPDATE from 28th SEPTEMBER All Melbourne podiatrists will be moving to the Second Stage of our road map from Monday 28th September. From Monday 28th of September we will be able to ease our clinics restrictions and welcome a wider group of patients for in clinic podiatry care.... New guidelines set by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) highlights those able to receive care including the following criteria: - to prevent significant deterioration in functional independence which would result in an escalation of care needed (such as increased frequency in treatment, significant increase in pain, specialist input or substantial increase in recovery time as a result of delayed care) - for assessment and diagnostic purposes for those people whose care has been delayed during stage 4 restrictions, and where further delay likely to result in deterioration ( eg diagnostic imaging and assessment for prescription of assistive technology) - To provided essential pre-operative or post-operative surgery care.
