22.01.2022 I am ever SO EXCITED to be able to tell you about some plans that I’ve been cooking up behind the scenes.... After much plotting and planning I’m ready to be able to launch my classes to an online format...! I’m calling this my CLASSROOM IN A BOX. So, let me explain how it’s going to work....... Every 6 weeks or so I will be releasing workshop spaces for a new online class. Enrolments will be for a limited number of students for each new class theme, depending upon how many kits I’m able to supply. Everyone is welcome in my virtual classes! Advance enrollments will be available to those of you who are signed up to my newsletter - you can sign up via the FORAGE website (link in profile) Your enrollment fee will include a kit which we’ll be posting to you. Ingredients of these kits will vary for each new workshop theme (I’ll provide you with a full description for each new class), and may include textiles, templates, threads, notions. Once you’ve received this delicious bundle of goodies you will be able to access my lessons via a special, students only portal on the FORAGE website. These lessons will be pre-recorded and you can watch them as many times as you like, at your own convenience. There will also be the opportunity for us to do one-on-one zoom calls if you have any questions you need to ask me. Lots more details to follow in the next few days.... But in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of our first class! See more

Now you too can pick and choose your own favourite combos - just go to the THREADS section, choose any 5 and your personal rainbow of Wonderfil perle 8 threads will be dropping into your letterbox! 21.01.2022 I’ve got a tale to tell you....grab a cuppa! We released the first in of our series of Class in a Box, a quilt named ALFRED, a couple of weeks ago and we were completely blown away by the response we had - it sold out within a couple of hours! We then had lots of people email us because they were disappointed that had missed out - which sent me into overdrive to create more kits so we could offer another class intake - I hate the thought of people being disappointed!! Ye...sterday afternoon I emailed everyone on that round 2 list to say we had another set of kits ready and lo and behold, the same thing has happened! Sold out within a couple of hours. I’m thrilled, of course that so many people want to be involved, and went to bed last night so happy to have a tribe that is so engaged. But oh my, the amount of emails that I woke up this morning of people who once again felt disappointed that they had missed out.... well of course, that will never do!! So, I’ve been running around like a headless chicken all morning, and spoken to all my suppliers for the kits - the template maker, the printer who does all the postcards and instructions, the girls @cottagegardenthreads who are hand dyeing all these threads for us to order - and I’m so thrilled that I’ve been able to organise a 3rd round of kits!!!!! Here’s how it’s going to work.... If you would like to be included please go to the FORAGE website, look in the shop under Class in a Box to see the available options and then email me directly ([email protected]) to tell me which one you’d like me to put aside for you. There’s only a total of 50 sets and then that’s it! Done! Finito! There’s a video in my feed if you scroll back where I’m explaining the ALFRED QUILT - Classroom in a Box if you’d like to have a look.... Ok, over and out... back to it... I have washing to hang on the line and groceries to go buy! L, xxx See more

20.01.2022 #anartisaniadmire For many years now I’ve admired the beautiful colourful and detailed pieces which are made by @ilovepero.... Fashion designer Aneeth Arora launched this colourful, eclectic range in 2009. It’s name Pero comes from the Rajastan word for 'to wear'. ... It’s good to share the things that inspire and bring us joy.... go and have a deep dive on their feed and hopefully it will make you smile. See more

19.01.2022 I’ve had so many lovely emails/messages in recent weeks with you all sharing progress pics of your Christmas cottages and how much you’re enjoying the making of your little villages. Like this one from CJ in America. How sweet is that little patch of snow on the roof & the Christmas lights! I always, always end my day with stitching time.... ... It helps to calm my busyness and makes me take time to process all that’s happened in the day. I urge you to do the same if it’s been a while since you picked up needle and thread - stitching time truly is one of life’s greatest pleasures! See more

17.01.2022 Some days, like today when I’m spinning around my studio like a whirring dervish packing kits, prepping parcels, replying to what feels like 50 billion emails and always looking ahead and trying to cross things off my endless to do list it helps me to take a breath and stop feeling so anxious if I just.... stop.... I had to do this micro break for my brain this afternoon when I realised I hadn’t come up for air since 8.30 this morning and it was now 3pm. So, ...I made myself have a big drink of water and spent a few moments being mindful of the sun on my back and gazed at these beautiful vintage buttons I found in France, and I let my mind wander and ponder the possibilities of the stories these buttons they could tell. It’s a trick that helps me recalibrate and gives my busy mind a break. As someone who suffers from what can be crippling anxiety, I share this little tip I use on #ruokday and hope that it might help you too if you also have times when you feel like your brain is on overload. Please reach out to those that you love regularly and ask R U Ok? Not just on a designated day. Knowing that someone cares enough to ask will make a world of difference. Xxx See more

14.01.2022 I have just gotten home from spending a lovely day teaching a gorgeous group of students @nthsydcentre.... Our chatter, laughter, sharing and enthusiasm were a much needed tonic for me after a very busy week. It is so rewarding when I get to meet someone like Lanna who was in my classroom today.... she’d had zero previous experience with a needle and thread before today’s class. She discovered she had a real talent for using colour, and finished our day together brimming wi...th ideas and full of excitement for her newfound love of stitching. Boom! Doesn’t get better than that! See more

09.01.2022 My CHRISTMAS COTTAGE pattern is getting so much love at the moment... The incredibly talented @roxycreationsbyrachel has done a YouTube tutorial about it....(a real fan girl moment for me!! You can hardly imagine my excitement!) Rachel’s work in both paper and fabrics is so beautifully layered... if you consider yourself to be one of the many #junkjournaljunkies out there, or are a fellow #slowstitch devotee you’ll adore her work. I’ve also been getting the loveliest... pics of the versions that are being created for everyone’s Christmas decor.... (last 3 pics) Honestly, it’s enough to make this girl dance a happy jig! 09.01.2022 Here’s a few action shots from the wonderfully enthusiastic group of 16 students who joined me yesterday @nthsydcentre for my Japanese Floral Motifs class. I’m doing the same workshop again @nthsydcentre this coming Sunday, and I’ve just had an email to tell me that there’s only a couple of spots left, so you’d like to come and be part of the fun please book via their website. My next lot of face-to-face workshops after that are for @sydneycraftweek in October. I’m... being hosted by @7clovellyroad in Randwick and doing my 101-introduction, Woodland and Christmas themed workshops. You can find all dates/times and other details on the @7clovellyroad website. Spending time in the classroom with my students is very special to me. I have the opportunity to bear witness to the evolution from uncertainty in some students because of their inexperience, to see them progress and become fully immersed in their creative process is just so rewarding. #ilovemyjob #happyteacher See more

08.01.2022 I feel a bit hungover today... and the strange thing is that I haven’t had a drink.... I think it’s the after effect of the crazy day we had yesterday with the release of my ALFRED quilt. What an incredible response we had... I was so shocked at how quickly all the places in this virtual classroom were snaffled up! ... We sold out of spaces in our first Class in a Box within a couple of hours, and all your emails, messages and phone calls were just so enthusiastic (except Jane who cried because she missed out - so SORRY Jane!!) that it truly blew me away. We’ve taken all 50 packages to the post office (they love us!) first thing this morning and hopefully they will be with you ASAP! We’ve started a waitlist for the second intake in about 5-6 weeks, so if you’d like to be part of that class group please go to the ALFRED listing on the website and put in your details. (Or send me an email if it’s easier - [email protected]) Everyone on that list will get first dibs to be part of the second class.
