22.01.2022 The members have been busy updating displays! There is a new room showcasing the medical collection. Lots of visitors today from all over the state. Fantastic comments about our wonderful museum!

22.01.2022 Throwback Thursday! Now what do you think these could be? They come from 1920's and every lady would have had one of these, although not used often they were essential. Let us know in the comments your guesses. #ThrowbackThursday #forbeshistoricalmuseum #guess

19.01.2022 RIP Prince Philip 1921 ~ 2021 Forbes Museum is open until 4pm, drop by and look through our royal memorabilia

17.01.2022 Busy working bee day. Nothing like getting rid of a bit of dust

17.01.2022 The cleaned object! Spit cleaning means one has to go slowly and carefully, so as not to damage the object and learn more about it in the process. The object has been broken and repaired (on on leg of a horse).

16.01.2022 Toys Through Time Our children's room display shows a wonderful selection of toys children have played with over the years. Old toys provide us with a snapshot of children's lives and playtime from the past. When you look a little closer, it will reveal things about the world that surrounded children and gained their attention. Simple pleasures and not an iPod in sight! Museum is open daily from 2-4pm, bring the kids and show them how life once was.... #toys #history #forbeshistoricalmuseum #fun

12.01.2022 We do remember them. Lest we forget Pictured here is Bill Facey Boomerang March, 19 January 1916 in front of Forbes Town Hall. Words cannot describe the feeling that was on that very day. Our Museum has a magnificent display of previous war memorabilia and artifacts and we welcome you to visit. Open 2pm - 4pm daily.... Picture courtesy of Arthur Pett, Bogan Gate

12.01.2022 Happy International Women's Day We have come such a long way since the photograph shown, early 1900's, but there still is a long way to go. Our Museum has so many stories of strong women who have forged the way throughout history in our region of Forbes. Share them with us... #IWD2021 #forbeshistoricalmuseum #ChooseToChallenge #women

11.01.2022 Exciting things have been quietly happening at the museum while we have been closed to visitors....

07.01.2022 With the Museum open again the volunteers got to and did a big clean. One of the finds, high on a cupboard was a model of a coach and horses. Margot has spent a couple hours showing it some TLC with a spit clean.

01.01.2022 Space Junk or treasure? Did you know that there are over 6,000 satellites orbiting Earth in 2021, many however are dead and just littering space. Sometimes this debris makes it's way back to earth as did this one in 1979. This piece of metal was found on the property of Mr Ray Halley near Forbes.... The grass was burnt by the heat generated during the re-entry into the earths atmosphere. Scientists and engineers from the Defence Force examined this and took samples. Their conclusions from this examination were: This item was probably part of a cone of a large space rocket because of its shape. It didn't appear to resemble the characteristics of any known western space agency space craft, so it assumed it is from somewhere else. But where? This space junk now resides at the Forbes Museum. Have you experienced any strange space junk before? Share your stories, we'd love to hear them. #spacejunk #forbeshistoricalmuseum #shootingstars #satellites
