11.01.2022 Training the eccentric portion of muscular movement improves deceleration and helps to prevent injuries. A great way to do this is to incorporate the French contrast method. Alternating between loaded and unloaded movements improves the muscles potential to do work. Here the athlete completes a set of four consecutive exercises focusing on slow eccentric movements to begin then fast explosive plyometrics. This is implemented in the early phase of an athletes preparation prior to competition time.

07.01.2022 Valgus knee and ankle faults are expressed through movements such as the squat by the inward collapsing of knees and ankle joints. When load is applied to this movement the efficiency of motion decreases while the risk of injury increases. This fault is experienced believe it or not by elite athletes as well as the rest of us mortals. To combat this attach one end of a band to a stable structure and the other to your knee. Performing squats with an opposing resistance promoting the valgus fault will force you to squat pushing your knee to the outside cancelling the poor movement. A few reps of this each side should help to remedy and improve you squatting action for better form and knee and ankle health.
