25.01.2022 Big day for Ford Street. We have three books being released: Piper Picks the Perfect Pet by Caroline Tuohey and Nicky Johnston -- see clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLU4NjLZ2Rs&feature=youtu.be, Colin Cockroach Goes to Caloundra by Chris McKimmie and Combat Wombat by Gina Newton and Tiffanee Daley. Sadly, we can't launch them during the pandemic, but once we're through it . . .

20.01.2022 Jackie Kerin's launch of The Amazing Case of Dr Ward was one of the most interesting launches I've been to. Dharma Picking from JP Books played a ukulele while selling books and we listened to Sarah Depasquale on violin accentuating Jackie's presentation. Reminded me of those plays with musicians accompanying the actors. Moss Studios staff Beatriz Aguila and Mirelli Oliveira demonstrated how to make a terrarium. It felt like we were the audience in a TV show. Stacks of kids there, too -- more than I've seen at any book launch. Well done, Jackie and team.

16.01.2022 Welcome Home by Christina Booth makes it to the New York Times. It's the first Ford Street title reviewed there (albeit from the US publisher). WELCOME HOME, WHALES Written and illustrated by Christina Booth The inspiration for this book was the first whale in almost 200 years (after early settlers hunted them to near extinction) to migrate to northern Tasmania in Booth’s native Australia and give birth to a calf in the river there. Booth’s tale of an intuitive boy who hears a whale’s aching song each morning is moody and mystical. Her lyrical prose and cerulean watercolor art swim together like mother and calf: two voices calling with a story of new beginnings.

10.01.2022 Chris McKimmie's CBCA short-listed picture book, I NEED a Parrot, inspires young artists. This from a teacher in NSW: "Each year every class in our school picks a CBCA shortlisted book to study for Book Week. This year, my class chose your wonderful book, I NEED a Parrot. We had been studying a unit on persuasive writing and we loved your illustrations, the humour and overall message in the book. Each child in my class created a collage taking inspiration from your work. T...he children had so many hilarious ideas of animals in various places they did not belong! Some of these included a penguin in a fridge, a cheetah joining someone on a run, a polar bear in an ice-cream shop, a squirrel in a nut store and many more. I have attached some pictures to show you our work. I hope you enjoy them! Thank you for being a wonderful inspiration for young minds. See more
