25.01.2022 Top of the morning from the Sunshine Coast QLD everyone Brian and I spent a couple of hours on Saturday fitting the dash into Eddie's beautiful matching numbers XB GS K-code (351) Ute. Eddie's dash, heater box, steering column and console were all lost by one of the other restorers, and Eddie approached me to replace everything that had been destroyed. ... He requested that his dash be converted to factory A/C while getting refurbished. Other little alterations like a padded passenger side were added during the process. The fitment of Factory AirCon drags installation out a little longer, but start to finish was completed in a couple of hours. The shed lighting and the silver/black Dynamat makes photos a bit of a nightmare... but it really came up a treat Have a great week, Adam 0407 675627
24.01.2022 Finally got to go to a coffee and cars event today. This one was at Crows Nest QLD. Unreal turn out. Couple of Hardtops there nice and early. John's XB GT has a staggering list of options as well as being a BSS dealer car. Awesome!
24.01.2022 Gary's work is beautiful. Please check his website out if you are thinking of having your wheel done. Prices, turnaround, and contact details are all there.
23.01.2022 I have two Dominic's in the system at the moment, one has a beautiful XA GT Hardtop, the other an XB GT Hardtop. This dash belongs to the latter. This car has a white interior, with nearly every option including radio cassette which was sent home before these pics were taken. Pretty happy with how she came up.... Looks pretty stunning in the flesh, hard to get it all in the photos.
18.01.2022 Hey everyone, I have a little something different for you today... Brian has just completed a couple of steering columns that I thought I'd share with you. For easy reference in the detail shots, the black one is XB and the Saddle (tan) one is XA.... Although a relatively simple item, there is still a ton of work that goes into these. Other than the obvious clean, paint, refinish - every column gets new bearings, dust seals, and ignition face plates. Additional parts can be supplied if needed as these are regularly in poor condition. The entire column is torn down, including the ignition, to be serviced and checked. Date stamps are carefully retained. If you look carefully, you will also make out the different lustres of the paint on different materials, metal to plastic. In fact the formed plastic of the XA ignition shroud is an entirely different colour... because they were. Everything has been faithfully refinished. I'm sure there is something I forgot to mention, but for now, zoom in and have a look at the details. Have a great day, Adam.
17.01.2022 G'day all. Just thought I'd share the typical assembly of a heater control unit. This one is a XB SelectAir A/C unit and it belongs to Don's Tango XB GT Hardtop. His dash is going together shortly. ... This work is typical for every dash that we do here, be it for a falcon Ute or a 1 of 1 GT. Each unit is fully stripped, every component gets refinished in its original coating. Even the control arms are finished in Black Zinc Passivate as per original. Lenses are commonly in pretty poor condition, but are carefully polished back to a shine. Control knobs are concours replacement items from Edan Miller at ARC, utilising the correct metal retainer clips (NOT araldite...) Cable spring clips are finished in factory correct Black Oxide. Have a great week everyone. Cheers Adam 0407 675627
16.01.2022 G'day peoples! One of the things I have immense appreciation for are the folks out there with amazing attention to detail. I don't bang on about it, but guys like Jamie at Kustom Garage, Howard Astill, just to name a couple. One newcomer who spiked my attention and I have been following for a little while now is Sam Green in Sydney (no relation...)... I really like Sam's work, and I'd really like to share it with you. Now before you ask - I have no idea on price or turnaround, please call him on 0410 135310 This is a description of the effort he puts into your average wiper motor.... "Restored Preslite & Lucas wiper motors fully rebuilt, fully disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Armeture machined & undercut, brushes replaced if necessary, body refurbished (fingerprint free finish), greased & lubricated, new washer pump, plating, new mounting gasket, decals/detailed. All motors thoroughly bench tested for low/ high speeds, park & washer pump ready to install." So he doesn't just make shit pretty where the judges can see it, is where I'm going with this.
16.01.2022 Corey has an awesome Kelly Green XA GS Fairmont that was his Dad's car. It was in need of lots of love, but he had a great, complete base to start with. Corey is running a manual choke Holley, and the car will sport the dealer fitted Super Fringe radio with single channel fader (very rare).... Interior and Vinyl roof by Reid at Musclecar Interiors.
15.01.2022 Been a busy couple of weeks with my 'real' job. Quietly chipping away at getting everyone's dashes home for Christmas. A couple of dashes came home from the paint shop today too, which is exciting! So we are getting to the pointy end for Lindsay, Kel, Chris, Dom, and Andy.... Pushed out a couple of Passengers Side frames as well. These are a little labour intensive, but look amazing when complete. Also received Dom's XA GT dash this week - Last one for the year, and got cracking into his heater control. Here at Ford XA XB Concours Restorations, we pride ourselves on attention to detail... whether you can see it, or not. Have a great week! Cheers, Adam 0407 675627
13.01.2022 Chris has been patiently waiting for us to supply him a dash for his late 73 XB GS. His dash was lost by one of our competitors, and he approached me to see if I could put together a replacement. Although he had received a couple of items back originally, they were for the most part unassembled. So he had no clue what he was missing.... In this instance, I suggested that if he bribe me with coffee and cake, I would assemble his entire dash assembly so it is ready to fit in his car. Cheers Adam Smith 0407 675627
11.01.2022 I've seen some pretty average stuff land on the bench, but Dave's XA A/C heater control was extra special. With wiring hacks, holes drilled for added switches, and lenses 'cleaned' with paint thinners... I wasn't sure if this was going to come good. 24 hours later, the wiring is still butchered, but it should be usable now. Cheers... Adam 0407 675627 See more
10.01.2022 Dominic's low mile '72 XA GT Hardtop is next one to go home. Came up nice, not that it really needed work to begin with. Catch up with you soon Mr Dom for that beer
04.01.2022 Hey there everyone, while waiting for the instruments to come back I've been tucking into the other jobs that make up a dash restoration. This week it was the humble dimmer switch. These always seem to turn up in pretty ordinary condition, and rarely work as they should. Each unit gets fully stripped, chemically cleaned, replated fittings, and new components fitted. I am also really careful to maintain your date stamps if they are accurate. Then they are tested to ensure I... have them working like brand new. Have a great weekend, and thank you for following. Cheers, Adam 0407 675627
