22.01.2022 We have had some beautiful rain and the country side is starting to get very green. The Ma Ma Creek has water in it. Over the long weekend we had campers with children and dogs all playing and swimming in the creek. We still have house availability for Easter and people can come camping anytime.

21.01.2022 **PUBLIC NOTICE*** AERIAL CULLING TO COMMENCE IN THE GUY FAWKES RIVER NATIONAL PARK MONDAY 17TH FEBRUARY This cull has been ordered by NPWS as part of the ‘fire... recovery pest program’. The letter is ambiguous and does not identify target species. We have attempted to confirm with NPWS if horses are a target species- We have been unable to secure any guarantee from NPWS that horses will not be on this list. What you need to know: * These horses are under a management plan that is overseen by the Horse Reference Group. This has been happening for 15 years. *This cull has been planned WITHOUT consultation with the Horse Reference Group and the HRG was not notified of a proposed cull- This Horse Reference Group does not condone aerial culling. * This cull has been planned WITHOUT consultation with the GFHHA, Aboriginal Elders and traditional custodians or the general public. *The fires in GFRNP happened 6 months ago back in September 2019- The park has received significant rain fall since then and the feed availability for all species has improved greatly. *RSPCA conducted welfare checks on the animals living in the GFRNP after the fires. If there was a welfare problem back then, why was this not addressed? *The GFHHA program has been running successfully for 16 years- Guy Fawkes horses are in high demand and we have a long waiting list of people waiting for the NPWS trapping program to provide horse numbers. *Feral animals in the GFRNP include horses, cattle and a small amount of deer. Due to the fires, neighbouring farming properties are recovering and have fences that still require repair, some of the cattle within the park have escaped from these properties and found their way into the Guy Fawkes, as the GFRNP is CLOSED, and has been since September 2019, recovery of these animals has been unachievable. *The GFHHA has worked very closely with NPWS for nearly 20 years. We are disappointed that this news was not communicated to directly to us, rather, it was forwarded to us by members of the public. If you wish to support the horses of the GFRNP, please see the below contacts and make your voice heard.
