Unfortunately, older adult mental health challenges are commonly under-identified and under-treated. The team at Foresight Psychology are dedicated to increasing the health of this age group. http://www.foresightpsychology.com/older-adults-and-mental/

18.01.2022 Telehealth has meant that you can attend therapy sessions on your terms. We have loved meeting your pets and joining you in your backyard. At present, the Medicare telehealth items are due to expire on the 30th of September and we at Foresight would rather that they were extended, especially with the rise in community transmission in the Inner West. If you have benefited from telehealth sessions and would like to continue to have the option of having your Medicare sessions by... video, phone or in person, then please consider writing to your local member to let them know. 18.01.2022 TIPS FOR A MENTALLY HEALTHY SELF-ISOLATION FROM DR AMY BURTON, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST AT Foresight Psychology To stay well during the strange and unusual times that we find ourselves in, its important to take extra steps to care for our mental health. 1. Try to maintain your routine - Its really important to try to maintain your usual routine as much as possible. If you are working from home, pretend that you are heading into the office when you get up in the morning and do ...as many of the same things as you usually would. If you are not working at the moment, spend the same amount of time as you usually would working a shift doing something else productive (like a creative project, housework, ticking something off your to-do list). 2. Stay connected with others - Dont cancel your meetings or plans with friends, have them over the phone, Skype or FaceTime instead. 3. Stay active - If you cant go out for a walk or a run, do some exercise at home. There are lots of great exercise YouTube clips and apps (well post suggestions in the comments) 4. Random acts of kindness - To challenge the negativity and stress weighing us all down at the moment, bring a little bit of light into someones elses life. Ideas: making homemade gifts for neighbours or loved ones, sending messages of encouragement and support to others, support your favourite local businesses who are likely doing it tough, write a letter/email of thanks to someone important from your past 5. Seek professional help - Its ok (and frankly expected) that you might not be doing so well at the moment. You dont have to do this alone. Arrange to talk to your psychologist or start your journey today. One of the friendly and experienced psychologists at Foresight Psychology can help! Contact us via our web enquiry form at www.foresightpsychology.com , via email at [email protected] , via phone 02 8380 8855

09.01.2022 Heard a lot recently about telehealth, online therapy, and video/phone psychology sessions but not sure what its all about? Roisin Lynch from Foresight Psychology answers some of our most frequently asked questions about telehealth psychology sessions in our latest blog post: http://www.foresightpsychology.com/coronavirus-and-telehea/ Until recently, psychological services have predominantly been delivered face-to-face. An alternative to face-to-face therapy is therapy tha...t is delivered via videoconference (e.g. Skype, FaceTime, Zoom) or phone, which is referred to as Telehealth Psychological Services. Although less common, telehealth services are a preferred option for some individuals (particularly those living in rural areas). The recent coronavirus pandemic has resulted in many more people engaging with Psychologists via videoconferencing or phone. The aim of this article is to share some of the FAQ our patients have about telehealth. - Roisin Lynch, Foresight Psychology See more
