25.01.2022 Hotham Valley Railway Anniversary Festival is being held Sunday 13th September from 9 am to 4.30 pm. Hotham Valley Railway will be operating both the Steam Ranger and Forest Train services at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm. Advanced bookings essential via 08 62781 111. Also on display will be the vintage Restaurant Train (outside viewing only) and historic XA class diesel.... The Dwellingup Town Oval will host 40 Market stalls, 5 food vans, a petting zoo and 2 talented Buskers - Beau playing from 10am to 1pm and Logan from 1 pm to 4 pm. There will also be Machinery Displays from the Machinery Preservation Club of WA, Northern Districts Model Engineering Society with Traction Engines and the Hugh Manning Tractor Museum. Why not bring along your picnic blanket and relax on the oval while you enjoy everything that this festival has to offer. The weather forecast is excellent.

The Forest Discovery Centre is a not-for-profit, community run business which has volunteering opportunitys in our workshop and retail shop. In the workshop you will enjoy working with wood, making wooden chopping boards to pallet furniture plus other duties assigned by the Manager to enhance and benefit the Centre. In the Retail Shop, which is open Saturdays and Sundays 10am 4pm, you will learn how to use the cash register, gain cash handling skills, learn to maintain/display stock and meet & greet visitors to the Centre. 16.01.2022 8th October 2020 Explore the bush at night with a spotlighting tour with zoologist Sarah Way from Ways to Nature! Learn about the jarrah forest’s fascinating nocturnal wildlife as we take a walk around the bush trails of Dwellingup’s Forest Discovery Centre and Jarrah Forest Lodge. Search for the animals creating the curious hoots, croaks, rustlings and eye-shines observed in the bush after sunset.... A special spotlight will be operated by your guide Sarah. A small number of torches will be available on the night to help you see along the trails. You are welcome to bring your own small torch if you have one (no spotlights, please). Best suited for children 6 years and above. Please arrive at 6.20pm and meet inside the Forest Discovery Centre for a 6.30pm departure. While every effort is made to locate and observe nocturnal animals, the Forest Discovery Centre is a natural bush environment, not a sanctuary or zoo. 05.01.2022 The Forest Discovery Centre was really excited on Monday to be able to go and pick up our new signage produced by the students from Pinjarra High School. It was a pleasure to meet the students who have work so hard to create these structures and their teacher, Dave Buys, who has taught them the skills necessary. Many thanks to Alcoa for providing the funding to make this project possible. The unique opportunity for local students to assist in the project brings environmental tourism, education and the mining industry together in a community project. The structures add value to the Dwellingup Discovery Centre experience whilst showcasing the artistic flair and metal work talents of the students, Mr Hodges said.
