02.01.2022 Amazing Argyrodendron species ‘Kin Kin’. This first picture is the seedling germinating in its own bubble of protective gel, that appears when the seed are wetted. Both A. Kin Kin and A. actinophyllum produce rather impressive gel bubbles which I would suggest is an adaptation to the potentially drier environments they can grow in. Just like the synthetic water crystals (but better) used in plantings, they create a pocket of moisture around the seedling for many days or even a week or so after rain has fallen, giving these fleshy little seedlings a chance to get into the soil.
