19.01.2022 An opportunity for older blokes to learn cooking skills. o Are you an older man looking to increase your confidence in the kitchen and learn more about cooking delicious meals? o Have you had to take over the role of preparing meals due to being recently widowed or your wife is no longer able to cook for you?... o Would you like to help share the meal preparation duties but have no clue about cooking? o Would you like to join a group of men who enjoy each other’s company while preparing a meal? Specifically for us older men, the Men’s Kitchen conducts virtual cooking sessions online every second Wednesday and we have a couple of vacancies. At these cooking sessions a few blokes each cook in their own kitchen connected together with the cooking instructor via Zoom. Each time we get together, each member prepares one or maybe two dishes, last time the attendees at our Wednesday group prepared Ginger Sweet Chilli Chicken. To participate you will need to have a laptop or tablet able to be set up in your kitchen and we’ll send you the recipes, a shopping list and a Zoom link to get you started. There is no charge for these cooking sessions and previous cooking experience is needed, but you will need to know how to use Zoom (If not we’ll show you that too.) So, if you would like to join us on Wednesday 18th November please contact Peter Watson on 0411 476 532 or send an email to [email protected].

18.01.2022 On the 17th March we launched the Men's Kitchen's ninth monthly Cooking Session on the Norther Beaches, the newest Cooking Session being on the third Tuesday of the month in Curl Curl. Five new members came to join us on the day, and by the end of the Cooking Session they had prepared and eaten a fantastic meal and were very pleased with themselves for having created a meal from some very basic ingredients. We welcomed (L-R first photo) Phil, Peter, Bill, Geoff and another Phil and together they prepared meatballs in a cheesy sauce, a salad with a nice home made dressing followed up with our much sought after Warm Date and Ginger Pudding and ice-cream. Welcome boys! What are you going to cook next time?

15.01.2022 A while back I posted a request here advising that I had been nominated for a Westfield Local Heroes Award and asked that you enter a vote for me in order that we might receive the $10,000 award money for the Men’s Kitchen. Today, I am thrilled to let you know that your votes did the trick and I have been announced as one of the three Warringah Mall winners. Thank you for your support it means a lot to the Men’s Kitchen as this year some of our usual sponsors have not been ab...le to be as generous due to the impacts of Covid on their business. Follow this link for further information on the winners at Westfield Warringah Mall. Thank you, Peter Watson

15.01.2022 Something for your calendar.

14.01.2022 Forest Men’s Kitchen still needs your assistance. If you have voted for the Men’s Kitchen Westfield Local Heroes award candidate Peter Watson already thank you. Forest Men’s Kitchen provides opportunities for older men to gather together and learn cooking skills and also build their support network. Many older men have never had the need or desire to spend any time in the kitchen, but now in their later years have either realised that they may need to cook for themselves s...ometime in the future or are already in the situation where they must cook at home. Also, many blokes having left work have lost a lot of the social contact they once had while they were employed. The Forest Men’s Kitchen helps address these issues. Some months ago, as the president and founder of the Forest Men’s Kitchen, Peter Watson was nominated as a candidate in the Westfield Local Heroes award program. To help win this award and contribute $10K to the Forest Men’s Kitchen we would really welcome your vote for Peter Watson by clicking on the link below, scrolling down to his entry and pressing the Vote Now button under that entry. Forest Men’s Kitchen provides opportunities for older men to... gather together and learn cooking skills and also build their support network. In order to keep our costs to members within the reach of a bloke on the aged pension, we rely heavily on grants from our supporting organisations. However, during these strange pandemic times the likelihood of the Forest Men’s Kitchen receiving our usual grants looks less likely. Some months ago, as the president and founder of the Forest Men’s Kitchen, Peter Watson was nominated as a candidate in the Westfield Local Heros award program and that award carries a $10,000 prize with it.
