24.01.2022 Happy Holidays! One of my favorite beverages around this time of year is this #PlantBased holiday classic - Banana Nog! Here's a simple, delicious and macro-friendly recipe: 300ml @vitasoy_aus_nz Protein Plus Soymilk 300g ripe bananas 44g @pranaon Gingerbread Power Plant Protein... Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-60 seconds or until smooth. Pour and serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top for extra festive flavor! This recipe will make 2 servings, each with 307 calories, 40c, 23p, and 7f (or one big serving if you're a #macronator like me ). 20.01.2022 #WorkoutWednesday One of the techniques I've been using to keep my training effective during lockdown is Blood Flow Restriction (BFR), also known as occlusion training. As the name suggests, BFR training involves partially restricting blood flow to the arms or legs, using either pneumatic cuffs or a simple set of knee wraps as I'm doing here. This allows blood to flow into the working muscles but not back out, which creates a massive pump and a painful burn, and has been show...n to stimulate hypertrophy even with very light loads. If you're up for a challenge and want to give it a go, here are some basic guidelines to follow: Perform 4 sets per exercise, following a rep scheme of 30, 15, 15, 15 Rest 30-60 seconds between sets, leaving the BFR cuffs or wraps in place Lift with a controlled tempo, allowing 1-2 seconds each for the concentric (lifting) and eccentric (lowering) portions of the movement Use light loads between 20% and 50% of 1RM Occlusion pressure should be 60-80% for the legs and 40-50% for the arms, where 0% represents no pressure and 100% is a complete tourniquet Limbs should only be occluded for a maximum of 10-20 minutes, so the cuffs or wraps should be removed every 1-2 exercises to allow normal blood flow to resume Other exercises that work well with BFR include bodyweight lunges and step ups for legs, and biceps curls and triceps kickbacks/pushdowns for arms. 02.01.2022 #FitFoodFriday I've been making this recipe in various forms for the past few years now, and it always goes down a treat! Double Chocolate Walnut Protein Fudge... Ingredients: 500g pitted dried dates 80g natural peanut butter (I used @mayversfoods brand) 40g cocoa powder 44g @pranaon Power Plant Protein (Rich Chocolate flavor, of course) 40g raisins 40g raw walnuts Preparation: Blitz the dates in a food processor or high-powered blender until finely chopped. Add the peanut butter, protein powder and cocoa powder and blend until smooth. Scrape down the sides if needed, and keep blending until the mixture starts to form into clumps. Then add the raisins and walnuts and blend for just a few more seconds to mix them through. Empty the mixture onto a large piece of baking paper, then fold the paper over and press the fudge together, shaping it into a flat brick. Place it in the fridge to set up for a few hours, or in the freezer for about 30 minutes. Once set, use a sharp knife to cut it into 10 equally sized pieces. I recommend storing these in the fridge so they don't get too sticky. Each piece will be roughly 270 calories, with 39 grams of carbs, 8 grams of protein, and 7 grams of fat. I like to have these beauties for a convenient snack on the go, as a healthy desert, or any other time when I need a quick boost of energy. Give 'em a try and let me know how it turns out! #WhatVegansEat #VeganFood #VeganFoodShare #PranaOn #PranaOnTribe #PoweredByPlants See more
