22.01.2022 GHOST MUSHROOM LANE GLOWING LIVE THIS SATURDAY 1 MAY! Our unique Limestone Coast visitor site will open to visitors from Saturday, providing exclusive after-dark access to the forest and the eerie glow within. Small, bright clusters of mushrooms have emerged this week and our forest Rangers have marked two walking trails to help you find them in the dark.... Due to warmer temperatures and less rainfall experienced so far this season, the mushrooms are not out in their usual large numbers just yet. But with a cold, wet snap forecast for the Limestone Coast next week it won’t be long before they really set the forest floor a-glow. This week’s super moon is also something to consider for those planning to visit this weekend. A bright night will substantially diminish the appearance of the mushroom’s glow the darker the night, the brighter the ghost mushroom will appear to the naked eye and the better your experience will be. We suggest consulting the moon phase calendar when planning your trip, via the link on our website. Visit www.forestrysa.com.au/ghostmushrooms/ to get your access pass, view the moon phase calendar and for everything you need to plan your trip to Ghost Mushroom Lane. Please note that our forests in the Mount Lofty Ranges and other parts of the Limestone Coast remain closed to the public after dark. 09.01.2022 Fire salvage harvest operations will resume at Cudlee Creek from Monday 5 October 2020, as the post-fire clean-up of Fox Creek Bike Park continues. Countless trees were left burnt and unstable following the Cudlee Creek Bushfire, prompting immediate closure of the forest and the popular bike park within. Harvest operations are expected to conclude in December. Once the site is made safe, ForestrySA plans to reopen trails where possible, while re-establishing the surrounding p...lantation. Unfortunately, trails such as Middle Earth have been significantly damaged and may remain closed until full remediation can be carried out. We thank all volunteers who have dedicated countless hours to site clean-up. It is because of the collaborative efforts of our valued volunteers, clubs and Local and State Government, that ForestrySA is looking forward to reopening Fox Creek Bike Park as soon as possible.
