25.01.2022 The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. The theme this year is Shaping Peace Together. Our students shared what peace means to them by writing messages and colouring in peace doves. The doves were placed around the school grounds, and this morning, upon arrival, the students followed a peace trail as they read all the lovely messages.

17.01.2022 What is the role of Montessori for adults in their daily lives because we are all a work in progress? Montessori really is for everyone. Its definitely great for children, research shows its an innovative approach for seniors, but did you know that its a great way for the rest of us to live, too? Montessori is absolutely an approach to education. Thats what were known for and thats what we do best. But Montessori is, at its core, about human development. Its about me...eting people where they are, creating environments in which we can all thrive, and letting each person be exactly who they were meant to be. Its about noticing the connections and finding ways to unify. Theres no time like the present as we navigate our current situation. Each and every one of us can find peace and a better understanding of ourselves in Montessori. We hope youll take a peek at this weeks blog to learn more. https://www.forestvillemontessori.nsw.edu.au/5-ways-to-liv/

08.01.2022 Students in our Upper Primary working on Sentence Analysis with adverbial extensions. In this language lesson, the children were working with different sentences, learning how to understand what is being communicated to them. The students were asked to break up the sentences and group them accordingly, helping them with syntax and style in language, as well as organising their thoughts in a logical way. First the students were given a couple of simple sentences to analyse. Th...e sentence - Jade rode the bus on Monday afternoon was read out loud. The students were asked to find the predicate (verb), and place it on top of the red circle. Then they were asked the question - Who is it that? What is it that rode? The answer was Jade. This is the subject in the sentence. Jade rode whom? What?. The answer was - the bus. This symbolised the direct object. Then the children read through the adverbial questions to analyse the last part of their sentence. In this case, the adverbial extension of when (time) was the answer - on Monday afternoon. #beyondaccomplished #thrivingbeyond

02.01.2022 The Flower in 3-6 Children are interested in their world and have a special interest in the names of things. This is a group about the parts of the Flower that linked the real parts of a Lily with the parts of the flower puzzle. First we give them the name of the whole Flower and then offer them the names of the parts Corolla, Pistil, Stamens, Calyex.... This sparks an interest and they begin to tune in to their environment in new ways and make discoveries. Children work with the concepts in multi-sensory ways to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of the natural world. To know is to love.
