25.01.2022 If you're feeling the strain in this digital world then perhaps it's time to see us for a personalised approach to your eyes needs. Limiting single vision "readers" are not the only option these days. Make an appointment and "See Better, See Us".
25.01.2022 Meet the Team! Barney is our associate Optometrist and alongside Peter has built strong connections within the local community, always going that extra mile to ensure you get the best possible care. Being therapeutically endorsed means he is able to prescribe optical medication that is not available over the counter.... In his own words: Optometry is an exciting field of healthcare with new techniques and treatments coming on stream all the time. I am very grateful to be able to work in such an innovative industry while at the same time providing people with one to one personalised care. Barney received his Bachelor of Optometry from the University of New South Wales in 2007 and later completed the Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics. After several years practicing at regional and rural locations around Australia, Barney returned to Sydney. Barney is a member of the OAA and practices full scope optometry. He has a keen interest in, and passion for, anterior eye diseases.

Stephanie received her Bachelor of Optometry from the University of New South Wales in 2007, later completing the Graduate Certificate for Ocular Therapeutics. She is especially interested in children's eye care. ... After several years practicing at regional and rural locations around Australia, Stephanie returned to Sydney. See more

22.01.2022 He's back! As we return to "normal" after the Covid-19 outbreak Peter, our Principal Optometrist and practice founder, has returned to regular days to continue to look after your routine eye care. As a Northern Beaches local he loves being able to provide individualised eye care to the community. He opened Forestway Optometry in 1993 and has been looking after the Forest community ever since.... Peter obtained his Optometry degree from the University of New South Wales in 1981 and worked in Oxford, England for seven years where he obtained the English Fellowship. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Optometry and is a member of the OAA and the CCLSA and has a particular interest in eye disease and contact lenses. 22.01.2022 A fun and interesting little video for some mid-week information on how our eyes developed and work. https://www.bbc.com//p0892/what-do-our-eyes-say-about-us-
22.01.2022 How gorgeous does our lovely Karen look in her new Gucci frames. Crystal acetate frames, in various colours, are huge right now and can look so chic. More importantly she LOVES her new multifocal lenses by CR Surfacing, a proudly Australian owned and operated lens company. As an experienced Optical Assistant Karen has tried many multifocal lenses and the Everyday Wide gets a big thumbs up. In her own words:... "I find it very quick to adjust to, especially as I change in to different lens types all the time with all the different frames I wear. The vision is very crisp all over and I don't have any problem finding the reading area." So if you're looking for good, easy to wear lenses that won't break the bank and supports Australian business then come in and ask about The CR Surfacing Perfection lens series.
22.01.2022 Grinners are winners. Karen and Sean looking as happy as we all feel about receiving our 2020 Local Business Awards Finalist certificate. Even to make it as a finalist is a massive honour and we couldn't be prouder.
20.01.2022 PHONES AND INTERNET ARE DOWN! We apologise for any inconvenience and we are working on getting them fixed ASAP. In the meantime you can book appointments online through our Facebook page or website. ... This also means we cannot process card payments or health fund claims in store. If coming in to purchase or for a non-bulk billed test please bring cash.
20.01.2022 Thank You to everyone who has been bringing in their used contact lenses and blister packs for recycling. Another 2 boxes full saved from landfill. Remember that your contact lenses and the plastic blister packs they come in are too small for normal recycling as they fall through the gaps on the conveyor belt and are then transferred to landfill. Putting them through this program helps us keep more plastic out of the environment. Find more information at https://www.terracycle.com/en-AU/brigades/bauschrecycling
20.01.2022 Researchers are hard at work discovering the links between nutrition and macular disease. Find out what they know already.

18.01.2022 Coronavirus (Covid-19) Practice Update! We know there is a lot of concern currently around this outbreak and we take our role as health care practitioners very seriously. As such we will closely montor and follow best practice updates as provided by the relevant authorities. We (by which I mean Karen and Rebecca!) have started the ball rolling and done a deep clean within the practice which we will keep up with as a matter of priority. ... Our machines and appliances are all cleaned with alcohol wipes or methylated spirits (which is denatured alcohol) after every use as a matter of best practice, however we will also start regularly cleaning the display frames with methylated spirits as well - as Rebecca (pictured below) did today. Surfaces are regularly cleaned within guideline parameters and hand sanitizer is available for use at reception. We would appreciate you reading the patient information below and if you think you may be at risk of infection then please call and reschedule your appointment. We hope you all stay happy and healthy. The Forestway Optometry Glenrose team.

16.01.2022 Meet the Team! Have you ever wondered who the lovely lady is behind those reminder calls? Virginia will be celebrating 1 year working with us this week! ... She is responsible for arranging your reminder communications when you are due for your next appointment and following up with a phone call to ensure you do not fall through the gaps. She loves meeting and talking with new people, which together with her warm and friendly manner, makes her a great person to discuss your next appointment with when she calls. You can also be assured you are speaking to another local who is an integral part of the in-house team rather than someone from an outsourced agency. Virginia has a diploma in graphic design and loves to chill out at the beach when not playing "Mum's Taxi Service" for her two children - I'm sure a lot of us are used to that game! Congratulations on 1 year as part of the Forestway family Virginia! We're so happy you're with us.
16.01.2022 It's starting to look rather festive down here at your favourite Optometry Practice. After one heck of a year let us all grab the holiday season joy with both hands. Though of course this means the end of the year is also fast approaching and you're running out of time to use those Optical Extras. Pop in to see us and let us help you make the most of them before you lose them.
15.01.2022 We take the health of our community very seriously. Here are a few ways we are working to keep everyone safe whilst returning to regular eye examinations.
15.01.2022 Another day. Another Coronavirus (Covid-19) update. In our ongoing efforts to balance our responsibilities as a healthcare practitioner with our desire to maintain the relaxed and fun environment that is our practice we ask our patients and customers to note the following. Frames are displayed to be tried on and we want you to be able to do so comfortably. All we ask is that once you have tried a frame on, if it is not the one for you, then please place it in the box on rece...ption so we can clean it properly before someone else tries it on. This is in addition to previous posts advising about hygiene in store and avoiding the practice if you are symptomatic or have recently travelled overseas or been in contact with someone with a suspected/confirmed case.
15.01.2022 Meet the Team! Practice Manager Sean has a diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing & is a Dispensing Optician with 16 years experience. He is focused on ensuring your spectacles always meet the requirements of your individual lifestyle. In store Sean uses his extensive optical knowledge to support the Optometrists in performing additional testing and answering questions relating to our clients’ ocular health or visual requirements as well as aiding new Contact Lens wearers with a tu...torial on applying and removing them. As a fashion forward gentleman he can usually be seen encouraging people to be brave with their frame choices whilst ensuring they fit with your own unique style. When not looking after your optical care he is a keen runner, taking part in City2Surf and the Blackmore's Running Festival to raise money for charities close to his heart.
10.01.2022 Karen and Luke showing off our new uniform. As we enter what may be a second wave of Covid-19 we have made the decision to be proactive rather than reactive this time round. The health and safety of our team and customers is of paramount importance and with the increasing rate of community transmission you will see many changes when you visit us.... We thank you in advance for following in store instructions designed to create a Covid Safe practice. Stay safe and stay healthy.
10.01.2022 You may think hand washing is easy, but watch this video to understand what you have to do to reduce your risk of COVID-19. Thorough soaping for 20 seconds breaks down the coating on the outside of the virus, destroying it, but it has to be immersed in the soap long enough to make this happen. A quick wash and rinse is not enough to destroy it's outer coating!
10.01.2022 Did you know that you use your eyes differently depending on the activity? We take the time to understand how you use your eyes in everyday life, so we can help you see what matters as clearly as possible.

As a team we remain commited to providing you with the best possible experience and we ask for your understanding if we cannot always attend to you immediately in store or if there is a delay in responding to emails, facebook messages and voice messages left on the phone.
