Lots of companies and people are recommending having no walls, no garden coverage and a clear line of sight between your house and the road. The logic behind this: when someones on your property with ill intentions - A passerby can see them and report it. I HAVE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW! ... Here it is: YOU ARE MAKING IT EASY FOR CRIMINALS TO ACCESS YOUR PROPERTY AND EXPLOIT WEAKPOINTS! Agreed, not many people will see them behind walls/fences on your property. However, consider that the chances are extremely slim for someone to see an intruder and call the police. At 3am how many of your neighbors and friends are watching your property. This is the physical security of your properties perimeter. Includes: Walls/fences, gates, automation, Intercoms, CCTV, maintenance, Etc. Layer 5 - Macro security. This is having an understanding of the environment in which you live. Its situational awareness. Knowing what happens in your streets day and night. Community groups are good for this.
