01.01.2022 Weight lifting is not just for men! There are many misconceptions regarding women lifting weights. Women have been told they shouldn’t be lifting weights because it will make them bulky and manly looking.... The truth is those ‘toned’ arms you love the look of on your favourite celebs come from lifting weights. Lifting weights builds lean muscle mass which gives you that defined sculpted look. Getting bulky with arms like Arnie would require a HUGE amount of weight training (I’m talking years of intentional training) and surplus calories. Plus some women you see that do have very bulky arms either have intentionally worked really hard to look that way over years or they are possibly using PEDS (Performance Enhancing Drugs) to achieve increased testosterone levels. By lifting weights you’ll build lean muscle and burn more calories. This basically means that when you do nothing, your body burns more calories the more lean muscle you have.
