12.01.2022 FRIDAY CUSTOMER INTERVIEW PRODUCT - Tennant Company - SCRUBBER Customer: Casaccio Egg Farm - Terang ABOUT CASACCIO... Casaccio bought the chicken farm about 5 and a half years ago, we run about 148,000 birds on site, we have a massive big expansion coming within the next 8 months with another 100,000 birds. The Casaccio family have been in the chicken farm industry or 53 years. Paul Casaccio has just retired and his kids have taken over the business. At the moment we are doing about 80,000 eggs a day, 7 days a week. Wednesday’s are our cleaning day and we do a double day on Thursdays. PRODUCTION Across the road we used to grade 10,000 eggs an hour. Now we are grading 75,000 eggs an hour on average. The machines full speed is 108,000 eggs per hour. So we can grade our eggs fairly quick. We’re finding over 90,000 eggs there is less than 20 broken under the machine that we have to clean up. HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR CLEANLINESS OF YOUR FLOORS? We currently use a Tennant T12 EC-H2O scrubber. Before we got this machine. We really struggled we had a yellow tinge across the floor that we could not move. A mixture of egg and clay. We had 6 girls mopping for 4 hours on a Wednesday and then an hour after every grade. We were fighting a losing battle. We had an odor come into the factory that we couldn’t get rid of. But we resolved all of that by this machine, so it is really good. WHAT MADE YOU INVEST IN A TENNANT T12? The fact that we were going backwards in the condition of the factor, we have a state of the art factory here in Terang. We couldn’t get it cleaned, we couldn’t get rid of the smell. We looked at a few scrubber machines. We demoed a few demo machines. And then PMH bought this one out, and I liked it that much it wasn’t getting loaded back onto the truck. WHAT CHEMICALS DO YOU USE? We don’t use any chemicals, and the finished product on the floor is amazing and when we demoed the machine we could see it was doing in a quick amount of time. We saved ourselves over $1000 in wages per week in putting this machine in over mopping. And then chemicals on top of that. One person sits on this and within 3 hours cleans the floor without working up a sweat. LOSS TIME INJURIES We had 3 slip and falls incidents before we had this machine within a 14 month period, only a day here and a day there. Since we have had this machine we have no slip and falls. Any water spillage is just cleaned up straight away.
