18.01.2022 LAST FIRST Cassie + Chris. Our very last COVID postponement before lock down hit. And our very first postponed wedding back when restrictions lifted. I’ll never, ever forget the call I made to gorgeous, funny Cassie on a Sunday afternoon, just four days out from her planned I dos to Chris the following Thursday.... It was March 22, 2020 and a world pandemic was swirling. The walls were closing in. And I had an alarm set for 3am the next morning to head to the flower markets to gather all the beauty for her day. Imagine. I had to ring her and say my gut tells me you need to make the call to postpone. Tomorrow will be too late. If the NSW Government moves to lockdown you lose everything you’ve paid for - venue, flowers, hair and make up, everything. I didn’t have a crystal ball. Just a gut feeling. And obsessive reading of all I could get my hands on. It was such a hard conversation for both of us. What if I was wrong? But what if I was right? Cassie, however, decided to trust in me. Knowing I had her back. That there was no hidden agenda on my part. At 9am on Monday morning, the NSW Government pulled down the shutters on the entire events industry. Weddings? Not a chance. So come October, how we celebrated and rejoiced in being able to bring Cassie & Chris’ weddimg to life at @bendooleyestate. And the flowers? It was like they were rejoicing too, more beautiful and incredible than ever. 13.01.2022 WHICH IS WHY we’ve come up with ways for dessert bars, grazing tables and even canapé service to happen at events during the joys of COVID-19 - and keep it totally legal, safe and fun. . .... we’ve reviewed all our cleaning and handling practices to ensure we can hand over all the pretties, or set them up and pack them up, knowing we’re following all known safety measures against the virus - and have all the equipment that takes in our kit, including commercial glass washer machines that hit 90 degrees Celsius. . . why we’ve undertaken the massive project of working to launch all our hire inventory online so clients from all around the country can access our massive hire range for their events by stepping into our virtual showroom. . . we’re so, so keen to go back to doing what we do best, and with so much passion and giving a damn...but that isn’t going to be able to happen if everyone gets complacent, think this thing is almost done and that life is back to normal. It’s not. And it won’t be for years. . news overnight of house parties of hundreds taking place in Sydney backyards (when it’s 20 max); of a pub which is now the focus of a cluster outbreak let 1000 people through its doors over the course of a week but took no names and contact details to trace - as required by law. And on, and on, it goes. . . we really all have to pull together, or lockdown.2 is inevitable in NSW as it is in Victoria right now. . 12.01.2022 SEASONALLOVE The flower gods delivered, and how, for gorgeous Cassie & Chris. With hearts set on a wedding filled with the beauty of Australian natives (and the South African king proteas we have adopted as our own), the October date meant we had access to the very, very best of the season.... Our recipes included everlasting daisy, geraldton wax, gumnuts, blushing bride, flowering gum, seeded gum and king proteas. and it allowed us to work to a palette of white to blush to pink, pops of pale to sunny yellow and lush, lush and beautifully scented grey greens. if this the look you’d love, and you don’t want to compromise on, aim for an event date which coincides with Australian natives at their seasonal best and in full flush. 11.01.2022 Did you know? We’ve been designing & creating bespoke, custom designed just for our clients event stationery from the very first event we designed & created 21 years ago. It’s a labour of love. Always.... You see, we have a thing for paper - in all its amazing and beauty forms, from the translucent to the textured, the cotton rich paper to the hand torn. And colour. And font. And calligraphy. And hand painted maps. And envelopes that are the ultimate wrapping, not just an afterthought. And well, all the things. And it means our events are seamless (and you get access to all sorts of online wizardry that even takes the headache out of working out who sits where ... well almost ). 06.01.2022 FAMILY LOVE beautiful cassie & chriis honoured all their parents, siblings and those they consider family with corsages & buttonholes. there were quite a few! dating back to ancient times, the greeks believed small, fragrant bunches of flowers & herbs warded off evil spirits at weddings. over time, it evolved to be a way to honour those closeest to the couple, to allow guests at a glance to know who are inner circle to the family.... it’s one of my favourite parts of flowering, creating the buttonholes and corsages. each one complementary but no two alike. just like everyone in a family. 01.01.2022 WE CAN DANCE if we want to in NSW. And we so do want to . Overnight the NSW Government has announced we can hit the dancefloor at weddings and events.... And that immediate members of a family don’t have to social distance at weddings - so all the hugs and kisses from dads, mums, sisters, brothers on your wedding day. . The no dancing rule has been weighing so heavily on our clients -many prepared to postpone again rather than have no dancing. . And when we learned the news we felt like Katy. Mitch and their bridal crew feel here ... and we know all our clients do too. Another dance step forward in the right direction. Now keep staying safe, doing the social distance thing and wash those hands on the regular. It’s the only way we’re going to keep dancing forward. . 01.01.2022 THE WAY AHEAD get those party and wedding plans ready, set, go . after being shut down for more than three months in NSW, weddings, parties, anything are go from July 1.... . There’s a small catch of no dancing if more than 20 guests. . And the venue has to have the equivalent of 4 sqm per guest ... but ... but ... today it has been announced that this rule is likely to go in August so long as there is no outbreak of community transmissions, and as night follows day, dancing allowed will be next. . We are so happy for our many couples and clients who’ve been on tense hold for months as to whether their celebrations and events could go ahead and how. . We can’t wait to get back to flower market runs, being on the tools, up ladders, setting table gorgeous, designing props and more. . We have availability in August and September due to everyone who postponed, and limited spots beyond well into next year. . 01.01.2022 CEREMONY LOVE within a tiny, historic, sandstone chapel we brought floral beauty inside, and designed and created beautiful booklets to leads guests through the ceremony where Prema &’Jeevsn got to say I do. . Following the ceremony, the massive arrangements which sat at the front of the church, were delivered by us to the reception venue, where they got to party into the night on either side of the bar.... we work so hard, and with so much heart for all our clients - and we demand the same of our florals and pretty. .
