05.01.2022 4 WATER BOMBERS DEPLOYED TO ASSIST STATE AND LOCAL FIRE CREWS ** Please share ** The City of Albany has responded to more than 50 fires since 8am yesterd...ay and currently over 30 fires are still active across the district. Conditions are predicted to remain unstable throughout today with the chance of wind gusts of up to 100km/h continuing. Reinforcements have arrived from across the State and all City fire crews have now been changed out for some well earned rest. A helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft are on standby to assist with the fires if needed and four water bombers have been deployed and are on their way to Albany. There is a confirmed loss of one home in Napier. The Napier fire has burnt about 2800ha and the Redmond fire has burnt about 1456ha. The Redmond and Napier fires remain on emergency alerts. The City is currently developing a recover plan. An evacuation centre for residents remains open at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre with about 50 people presenting at the centre over the course of last night and early this morning. A community meeting will be held today at ALAC at 1pm and all members of the community affected by the current fires are invited to attend.

01.01.2022 We are seeing more and more of these windscreens and it will soon be normal that nearly every car comes standard. This is from an online article and The most important line I can see is FACTORY TRAINED STAFF ARE ESSENTIAL. Lets hope dealerships recognize how important this is to the safety of their customers and train their technicians. After we have replaced the windscreen we then take to the dealer for the camera to be Re Calibrated. If their service department are not capa...ble of what is required it maybe a trip to the city to another dealer who are trained for a simple windscreen replacement. A broken windscreen could create major safety problems for a growing number of new cars. As the latest active safety equipment relies more heavily on forward-facing radar, laser and camera tech, replacing a damaged windscreen becomes more than just a simple switch of glass. Major manufacturers are now warning that re calibration of the safety optics by factory-trained staff is essential to ensure their correct operation.
