19.01.2022 November 25th, 7pm-9pm we'll hold a stitch and meet, and get a chance to think about what we want to do for 2021. To reduce the gold coins to cover hall hire, we have put the meeting online; simply register and pay there! No cash? No drama! If you want to learn cross stitch in November, we will have little packs ready for sale ($5) complete with needle, thread, cloth and pattern. ... Register that you're coming here: https://events.humanitix.com/forrest-darlings-nov-2020 Or, bring your gold coin and we'll see you on the night!
18.01.2022 Recently we were asked to make bean bags for a local community group. We were also recently given a whole lot of fabric... Sounds like a perfect match! ... Here's one of our members practising her circus skills with some bean bags she's made this week. Bean bags are used to improve gross motor control, balance, literacy and numeracy in fun ways that get kids moving and engaged. What fun games did you play with bean bags??
17.01.2022 Thank you to our lovely gifter of fabric! The CWA Forrest Darlings are already thinking about how to make sure it gets back into the community, from bridal shower bunting flags to dresses.
15.01.2022 Can't make Chrissy catchup? No Worries - join us in January to make book bags before the school year starts!
14.01.2022 If you are heading out on a camping trip sometime soon, have a look at this handy demonstration by the Road Safety Commission
10.01.2022 Last night, our member Sally brought along two projects. A beautiful May Pole diorama, and a grass basket. Here's Sally finishing the weaving on the grass basket, to house a vase in her home. Sally told us about her Grandmother who taught her to knit. "She went to the butcher and got two skewers that would have been used to hold a roast together." This wise use of resources is exactly along the lines of CWA. Use what you have and create something wonderful! The grass basket really inspired us last night, so for April, Sally is going to teach us how to make one ourselves. Come along!
09.01.2022 Today is The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. The CWA of WA stands for Safer Regional Roads. Why not have a look at the Answers to the 12 most asked Road Rules Questions? https://roadrules.rsc.wa.gov.au/

08.01.2022 As part of 16 Days in WA, we share this eye opening article from the United Nations: How COVID-19 impacts Women and Girls. https://interactive.unwomen.org//exp/covid19/en/index.html
08.01.2022 Now stick with me.. Our member Sally is going to teach us how to make grass woven baskets next meeting (4th Wednesday in April, if you are interested!) and we all have homework, to plait our grass runners and let them dry out before the meeting. So, our president Rebecca spent 30 minutes gardening this Easter Monday, and has a plait waiting for April's meeting. I can't wait to see what she can make with it!
07.01.2022 Thanks to everyone for turning out tonight to hear from Michelle and learn sashiko together! The Instagram account that Michelle showed at the end for sashiko inspiration was: https://www.instagram.com/sashikonami/ We'll hope to see you all on November 25 for a little cross-stitch, or bring your own stitching project to show and work on.
