20.01.2022 It's clear that now more than ever, we need to come together as Australians to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. So who's in?

15.01.2022 Wamberal Rural Fire, Wamberal Surf Club, Wamberal Bushcare, Intrepid Landcare and local community members, plus a couple of nippers, turned up this morning for ...the Wamberal Lagoon foreshore clean up. "Boots should be OK" I said" to the Rural Fire team, "the bank should be firm enough to paddle to the bank", even when the Lake is out. So off they paddled to the clean up site on the Eastern side, then back came the canoes. "They need booties" "its shin deep mud for 30 metres to the foreshore". Well that part of normal Clean4shore, but I did feel sorry for the boys, first time out, especially when I had to go the tidal mud. "Hey, we are getting litter, its OK", big Adam reassured me. With all volunteers on the opposite side of the Lagoon, Col and the Surf Club team began the clean up from close to the Lake opening, another group near the first Point, and the last group battling the mud from around the corner. Upon reaching the end group, Clean4shore move further North with the litter continually building. Bags were filling fast on this foreshore, and only 400 metres of the 1.5 kilometre of the Eastern foreshore was cleaned. Then a slow walk back to the canoes with heavy bags full of rubbish. Returning to the main group, ten full bags were transferred back across the Lagoon. A large pile of treated pine was reduced to "handling" size, with the Rural boys bringing out a chain saw, cutting up the pine, which was then loaded into the canoes for transfer back across the Lagoon. By noon all of the local group and the collected rubbish was back on the right side of the Lagoon, group photo taken with all rubbish and canoes loaded onto the Surf Club trailer. Massive effort by the local team, all working together, with individual skills and knowledge spearheaded by the Rural Fire team, and supported by some very good paddling skills by the community boys to ensure our volunteers safety on the water. Clean4shore will return, possible in July school holidays, when full water returns, to complete the clean up, further into the Lagoon. 680 kilos was offloaded at Woy Woy Tip. Many thanks Wamberal, Clean4shore will be back. See more

14.01.2022 Wamberal Lake, eastern foreshore, final clean up completed this morning by six keen volunteers, paddling to the the Foresters Beach creek to commence the task. ...Just enough water enabled the canoes to paddle to the start point, however as bulk small litter was being loaded into the canoes the paddling home against a strong wind option quickly diminished, and the craft were push the two kilometres home. Bulk small littler was on the higher tidal mark, all very old with plenty of "balls" present indication storm water run off. Cans, beer bottles and plenty of sift plastic collected with the main item being older plastic bottles, close to 500 of these in the bags. The large black plastic piece was folded and removed. Six very full canoes, tied together were the pulled through the shallow water on the 'treck" back to Remberance Drive. Bit off off loading to get volunteers and rubbish across the Lagoon, against the wind, but good paddling skills got the task done. Big offload, into the trailer with 22 very full bags, larger items being a pallet, outdoor chair, milk crates, car tyres and an office chair. Many thanks to Sam, Anne & Ian, Mark, Sammy and our Forresters Beach guest for their efforts. See more
