25.01.2022 In relation to overall duration, the creation of a solid foundation at the buildings location is the number one expectation. (In other words: concrete for 17 of more than 100 footings for the High Wycombe multi-deck car park has been poured.)
25.01.2022 Between the chippies and the concreters, 35 of 121 columns to support the multi-deck car park topping slab have already been constructed. Together these two teams have been causing quite a few rows of the peaceful kind In other words: The High Wycombe Station car park is shaping up nicely.
24.01.2022 Happy first day of Movember! While there is not much happening in terms of upper lip growth, six sporty superstars from the project team have come up with a different way of raising funds for this great cause. Sponsored by KEE Group, ECG Engineering and Bailey Brewing Co. the lads will be competing in the Tour of Margaret River next weekend, taking one for the team. Donate via their Mo Space for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in your life.
23.01.2022 This #FlashBackFriday we are letting the pictures do the talking.
22.01.2022 Deep in conversation takes a whole new meaning when our crews have a chat while working on Cross Passage Forbes. At 36.5m below ground, in the heart of the Osborne Formation, this is the lowest point of the tunnel. It doesnt get any deeper than this!
22.01.2022 Stairs A how to guide: Step 1: Manufacture steel modules Step 2: Deliver to Redcliffe site and assemble Step 3: Install staircase... Steps 4 to 60: Climb almost 10m from platform to ground level! (Yes, there will be escalators and lifts ) See more
22.01.2022 Are you the next Banksy, ROA or Stormie Mills? Then join our Youth Art Project team and leave your mark at the new High Wycombe Station. Check it out
22.01.2022 If you like it then you shoulda put a lid on it We like it and we are putting a lid on it! Work has started on Redcliffe Stations roof structure, the last of the three new stations to be covered.

20.01.2022 Storey by storey the tale of the Bayswater portal building is told. With the floating slab poured and cured, the basement (dive structure) is covered. Up next is the next level up: blockwork for internal walls currently underway at plant level.
19.01.2022 Build a house in 35 seconds? Only in the world of Minecraft. Unless you have a time lapse camera and condense 80 days to showcase the construction of the above-ground section of the Bayswater portal building brickwork, steel frames, cladding, sheeting and all. Check it out!
19.01.2022 I want to laaaaaay you doooown in a bed of gravel While the majority of our track will be hidden away in tunnels, a small portion of ballasted track sleepers and rail on crushed stone will be visible at either end of the new alignment. The first section of matting and ballast has already been placed at Bayswater Junction, forming the permanent bed for the city-bound Midland Line trains.
18.01.2022 One sink, two sinks, three sinks, four. High Wycombe Station certainly cannot complain about sink deficiency. While it’s not quite time to sink outside the box, the public and staff restrooms are coming together nicely.
17.01.2022 We know you can see right through this, so to be fully transparent we wanted to let you know that 50 per cent of the external glazing at Airport Central Station is now in place. Smashed it! Oh no, wait
17.01.2022 Bayswater Community Update From Sunday to Friday nightworks are required at the construction site in Bayswater in preparation for the tie-in of the new Airport Line. Unfortunately the proximity to the active Midland Line does not allow works to take place while trains are operating for safety reasons. We apologise in advance for any disruptions. More information
17.01.2022 Milestone alert : The twelfth (and final) tunnel-to-tunnel cross passage of the alignment has been excavated, earning the team a 12/12. While the short link won’t house any rail, it is just as important providing an escape route in case of an emergency.
17.01.2022 Tiiiiiiiimber ...is the look we are going for on the Airport Central Station ceiling. The panels, which are currently being installed, are perforated to help with acoustics in the atrium.
16.01.2022 Did you know that the 132kV electrical substation at High Wycombe will be able to supply enough traction power to operate all Airport Line trains, as well as back-up power for all Midland Line trains? #funfactfriday
16.01.2022 Up for some Sunday fun? Our project may or may not be represented...
16.01.2022 15 percentage of copper-coloured aluminium ceiling panels installed at High Wycombe Station. Radiating warmth and energy, the colours of the station precinct represent those so abundantly found in the Western Australian landscape. #funfactfriday
16.01.2022 Matting Ballast Sleepers Rail In a turn of events the first length of ballasted track is now in place. It is here where the Midland Line and Airport Line tracks will merge before trains arrive at Bayswater Station. Turns out we have a turnout!
15.01.2022 How it started how it’s going. This year’s transition from tunnelling to track laying
15.01.2022 Things are getting arty at High Wycombe Station A 5.5m-high and 100m-long section of the station retaining wall is set to feature a tessellated pattern of earthy red colours, chosen to reflect the tones of the nearby Darling Scarp. The first panel has been painted and we are rather chuffed with the result!
15.01.2022 Just like Australia as a whole, our project family is a melting pot of cultures and languages. From our family to yours we wish you a wonderful and safe holiday period. Most site operations will be stopped between December 24 and January 4. See you on the other side!
15.01.2022 High Wycombe is putting on its very own version of The Pinnacles, with more than 100 of 122 columns to support the first level of the multi-deck car park now cast. About a third of the up to 10m-high tilt-up panels are also in place, forming the walls of the ramp located inside the car park building.
15.01.2022 Along and through walls, ducts and trays, across several levels, around the corner there are thousands of kilometres of cables being installed left, right and centre. So here is a shout-out to the cable pulling crew, forming real connections on this project
15.01.2022 You wouldnt know it when standing at the surface, but down below in the tunnels its a hive of activity. The rail team has already assembled 3km of skeleton track and the concrete crew has poured the first section of track slab. Quite the team effort!
14.01.2022 What a beautiful site! High Wycombe Station is looking more and more like a real train station. Once operational it will be a mere 20 minutes on the train to the Perth CBD.
13.01.2022 We are proud to present you with the latest progress at Airport Central Station. Located immediately south of the control tower, the station’s lofty atrium is turning into a real stunner. And within the structure we have the longest uninterrupted escalator in the southern hemisphere at 35m. We’ll let the photos speak for themselves
13.01.2022 Scabbling (noun): Technique to roughen up the surface of concrete. To create better grip between the first layer (invert slab) and second layer (track slab to be poured around the sleepers) of concrete, scabbling is now underway in Tunnel Two. Check out the before and after shots #TeachMeTuesday
12.01.2022 Its a bird! Its a plane! The real superhero is our fritted glass used in the skylight at Airport Central Station, which reduces solar heat and makes the building more visible for birds and flying objects. A total of 44 patterned panels made of toughened laminated safety glass are being installed up to 24 metres above the concourse level.
12.01.2022 Redcliffe Station is catching up to Airport Central and High Wycombe stations, with the steel frame for the first above-ground structure in place. A total of 11 pods are being built at ground level, housing toilets, a kiosk, staff areas, security and information, emergency stairs and equipment to operate the station.
11.01.2022 This is Paul. Pauls work here is done. For more than three years Paul was the trusty operator of Airport Central Stations 200 tonne crawler crane. Paul and his crane have lifted endless loads one could say their work days saw many ups and downs. Enjoy your well-deserved break, Paul!
10.01.2022 When life gives you rail, weld it! Unlike regular welding, flashbutt welding does not require filler material to join lengths of rail, but uses an electrical current to melt together the metal. Add a good measure of sparks and the end result is 220m-long, spaghetti-like rail strings. #TeachMeTuesday
10.01.2022 Any metal fans out there? We had a really big one (5000kg) installed just last week. Located within the High Wycombe portal building, the ventilation fan is capable of moving up to 70 cubic metres of air per second into the tunnels.
10.01.2022 How it started how it’s going. The last 12 months at Bayswater Junction
09.01.2022 In the race for the invert slabs completion its Tunnel One in the lead with 84% now done. But wait! Tunnel Two is coming up strong from behind and has just passed the 76% mark. Closing in on the finish line its a head-to-head contest to reach this milestone.
08.01.2022 Going, going, gone. The completion of tunnelling-related works is quite a weight off the electric tower cranes shoulders. Having departed from Redcliffe site last week, it is now up to the smaller crawler crane to carry the load until the end of the project.
08.01.2022 Weve got some railly good news!
07.01.2022 They told me to zip it. Zip it real good. And so I did. - Rufus, rail threading machine, Forrestfield-Airport Link tunnels #machinesofFAL
07.01.2022 Last week our team had a bit of a Dr Doolittle moment. First it was a family of ducklings taking a shortcut through Bayswater site, then an echidna was spotted hiding underneath a pallet at High Wycombe Station, followed by a bobtail in search of undergrowth. Capped off with a baby snake at Redcliffe Station, all creatures were safely moved on.
07.01.2022 Thanks for your patience, WA! Perths transport infrastructure is getting a major upgrade with seven METRONET projects in construction this year. You may experience a few delays, but every construction sign is a sign of great things to come. Visit the Building For Tomorrow website to see what it means for you in one handy spot.
06.01.2022 Adding another brick in the wall is our crew at Redcliffe, where the construction of over track exhaust (OTE) walls is in full swing. OTE systems form part of the tunnel ventilation, with the walls within the underground station disguising equipment required to extract heat and smoke in case of a fire. #TeachMeTuesday #WeDontNeedNoEducation
05.01.2022 With Perth being one of the sunniest capital cities in the world, using solar power on the new alignment is a no-brainer Last week our crew started installing the first of 626 solar panels at High Wycombe Station. The system is designed to generate enough electricity to meet the average summertime daytime power demand of all three new stations
04.01.2022 Structural works are ‘steeling’ the show at Redcliffe Station, with stairs, lift shafts and the station roof being assembled. The cast is supported by the always-delivering, famous Western Australian sunset.
03.01.2022 All four steel modules for the stairs and lift shaft at Airport West Emergency Egress Shaft have now been lowered and installed. To get from the tunnels to ground level, or vice versa, one has to conquer close to 200 steps or take the lift
02.01.2022 Its one thing to build a tunnel for trains, but another to power them! Unlike the majority of Perths passenger train network, which uses overhead wires, our tunnels will be fitted-out with a rigid overhead conductor rail. The first 1500 support arms have already been assembled at the High Wycombe site. #TeachMeTuesday
02.01.2022 Update for Bayswater cyclists The principal shared path (PSP) adjacent to the Bayswater Junction site will be temporarily diverted to the eastern side of Guildford Road for up to 48 hours from Friday July 3 to Sunday July 5. Clear signage and delineation will be in place. This is to allow the reinstatement of the path now that tunnelling has finished and the tunnel boring machines have been removed from site. Thank you for for your understanding while these works are completed.
01.01.2022 How it started how it’s going. From January to December at Redcliffe Station
01.01.2022 Bayswater Junction may have been the last port of call for the tunnel boring machines, but its the starting line when it comes to overhead line equipment. Masts for the overhead wires that power the trains above ground have been installed along the first half of the dive structure. Go Bayswater Junction you con du it!
