14.01.2022 Many thanks to all of you for liking the page! And for some of my friends who might not know what Im talking about, Forrest is a small town in the Otways between Colac and Apollo Bay. It has a rich history as a rail town, then as a timber town and now as a tourist town with lots of bike tracks! In a few days I will be putting out our first digital newsletter, but not sure what to call it? Norm suggested Forrestory, as mash up of Forrest and History, as well as having implying the Story of Forrest ... any other suggestions?

08.01.2022 Ken Widdowson 1933-2021 We are sad to report the passing of our founder and president, Ken Widdowson. Ken first came to Forrest in 1970, when he bought the farm Ponderosa just south of the township. He later bought a farm at King Valley, 5km east of the town, where he ran beef cattle and where he finally retired 20 years ago. Ken always loved the little township of Forrest and was fascinated by its history. In 2006 he created the Forrest and District Historical Society. Ken d...id a great job collecting so much material over the last 15 years, making the Society what it is today. It would be true to say that Ken WAS the FDHS for much of its existence, so obviously this means we are entering a new era for the society. We will keep you informed of further developments as soon as we can. Thanks so much Ken, for your Stirling work in creating the Society.
