25.01.2022 The final phase of the Forrest MTB Detailed Design Project will begin this week and will run for a two week period. The Colac Otway Shire Council has engaged a Geotechnical and Biodiversity Consultants to conduct field work on proposed trails. The purpose of this work is to make sure we’re evaluating Forrest natural environment so we can create more sustainable trails and avoid sensitive riparian areas. For the safety of all parties; if you’re out riding on Forrest’s trails, please be aware that consultants are onsite."

25.01.2022 Yes folks these are weird times...we've all had our lives affected by the closures and limitations one way or another.. with only the General Store operating on limited hours there's nothing else happening in Forrest, all the camp grounds are closed, even your sneaky bush camp... The sooner this is all over the better and that can only really be done by staying in your own area, especially this weekend. It sucks a lot, don't make the mountain bike fraternity look bad stay in your neighborhood this weekend.

25.01.2022 This survey allows you to give feedback about any trails in Victoria, head to the survey map, choose a trail network and give your feedback. You can also add trails that don’t exist on the map, or add potential location for where you think trails should be built. Have your say!

24.01.2022 Fresh start to the day

23.01.2022 Thanks to Rob Gunstone for getting in touch with us recently regarding our trails. It was great to have a chat about positive things and the future of Forrests' projects. We are so looking forward to resuming all the conversations and trying to get them back on the front burner. Sadly like everywhere else we are in strange times with the Covid19 situation and it pains us to ask you to stay in your own neighborhood, BUT, look out for when all this lifts we'll be peppering your feed encouraging you back.

22.01.2022 Want to show your support for our trails and have the chance to win some awesome prizes? Trailforks have got around $16k in prizes to give away to everyone who donates to a local trail network. Your money goes straight to the club and depending how much you donate, you'll be entered multiple times. If you want to support the trails, now is a great time to do it: https://www.trailforks.com/directory/9041/

21.01.2022 Yewwwwwwww, trail heads are open. Just make sure you PLAY BY THE RULES !and don't stuff it up for anyone by not observing the SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES

20.01.2022 A message and press release from The Colac Otway Shire regarding the funding for trail works. "Hi Everyone, It has been a tough year for everyone and I hope you’re all keeping well and staying positive.... Last year Council, the Forrest MTB Club, the community and project partners (DELWP, Barwon Water and Parks Victoria) worked together to deliver a Detailed Design Plan for the Forrest MTB Bike network. This project was supported by the Federal Government who contributed $100K from the ‘Building Better Regions Fund’ to go with $100K in matching funding from Council. The completed Forrest MTB Detailed Design Plan which can be viewed HERE requires $4.25M of investment. The plan includes new and reworked trails products, a world class trailhead and skills park, safer trails and crossings, recreational outcomes for horse riders and walkers plus adaptive rider friendly trails. Additionally the plan will assist to deliver community and social cohesion, new jobs and business opportunities, and an all year round accessible and sustainable MTB network. Earlier this year, Council successfully applied for a State Government Regional Infrastructure Grant of $500K. Together with Council’s matching funding (of $250k) $750K is available for funding new product at Forrest. For this application Council collectively received: - 43 Letters of Support from business partners, key agency stakeholders along with State and Federal Government representatives, - 581 online project support registrations via the Ride Forrest website. Many people have dedicated considerable time and effort into keeping the trails open and securing funding for new trails. I am pleased to advise that DELWP today announcing significant investment for new projects in the Otways and the Great Ocean Region. As per the attached media release, the Forrest MTB Trail Network will receive an additional $1.57M with total combined investment now at $2.32M MTB infrastructure at Forrest. DELWP will additionally fund a Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP) for the entire MTB network which will allow Council to utilise remaining ‘Building Better Regions’ funds to complete the required GeoTechnical and Flora & Fauna studies at Forrest and Yaugher. It is expected that studies will be completed within the next six months before going to tender for the MTB construction projects."

20.01.2022 Trail Maintenance day on Sunday May 2nd. Meet at the Depot next to the Skills park at 9.30am. Winter proofing some features, drainage and trimming. As per usual dodgy snags and and salad post works.

19.01.2022 Thanks so much to everyone for their support in the Trailforks Karma Month fundraiser. The club really appreciates everyone's generosity. If you haven't checked it out, you can win some pretty awesome prizes: 7 day trip for 2 people to ride in Canada 2021 Kona Shonky Hardtail... SRAM GX Groupset SRAM G2 Ultimate Brakes Santa Cruz Reserve Wheels Garmin Edge 830 and heaps of other stuff. Goodluck!

18.01.2022 Stay in Forrest and explore the roads, gravel and singletrack on offer. Something for everyone!

18.01.2022 Whacko, Things are starting to fall into place for the trail works and upgrades we've been working with the Colac Otway Shire, DELWP, Barwon Water, Parks and many other local and government stake holders for near on a decade now. While its not the total amount of money needed for the overall project, we have been through and prioritised works that we can do first providing best bang for buck for both the riding community and just as ( or maybe more ) importantly local community and local businesses. These works will add new trails, modify existing trails, winterproof our system and make them more environmentally sustainable. Giddeup

17.01.2022 Women’s ride coming up at nearby Anglesea run by Surfcoast MTB... why not grab a friend and carpool together? Try out some different trails and meet new peeps. Beginners and intermediate groups available. https://fb.me/e/aM6regZyl

16.01.2022 Such fun teaching this awesome group of women some beginner MTB skills. #activeclubgrant #thisgirlcan #forrestmtb #yaugher

15.01.2022 Heads up on some proposed ignitions for planned burns. Sunday 4 pm, so all you Gravel Grinders should be well finished, avoided the smoke and on the way home by then.

15.01.2022 Climbing out of Marriners like we’re climbing out of restrictions.... slowly... very happy to be able to exercise with a few people from another household (total group 5) from today... time for some legal bike rides with my kid and her bestie. #rideforrest

14.01.2022 Hey Folks. If you're heading to Forrest it's been damn wet, please stay off Red Carpet and Follow the dog......ride the Yaugher trails if you have too, better still go do a Gravel Grind. Ride through the puddles, not around them and ride within your abilities. ... We'll try to organise a trail maintenance day soon

13.01.2022 Sad to say, "That if you live inside any of the shaded areas, you are unable to come riding in Forrest until further notice" , while we feel pretty bad for you, apparently it's the "New normal" For those lucky enough to be outside of those areas you still can ride here (unless that changes)...........as long as you carry out your hand hygiene and social distancing and aren't displaying any Covid symptoms.

13.01.2022 Whooo hooo, suns out, we can ( well some of us can ) go out. Just be mindful we've have some serious winds over the last few weeks and there remains quite a few trees down, like this sneaky critter hiding around a fast corner on Superloop. Stay safe and please do the right thing while you're on the trails and at trailheads with regards to the ol' Covid

12.01.2022 Hi it’s Michelle here. Any MTB riders want to help out for a short filming session this afternoon at 5pm? A camera crew from a tourism body is coming to film the area and asked me to ride for them and if I wanted bring some friends... but I’m struggling to find anyone due to the clash with Brew Crew and the school concert. We will be filming out at Yaugher on a trail close to car access and then back to Forrest Guesthouse for a casual interview about the area (not sure the ...friends get interviews, I think maybe they just want a few people milling around). All up not more than 2 hours. I’ve got a couple of maybes from 2 people but no solid Yes’s so just thought I’d put it out to the public.

11.01.2022 Due to the Victorian Mountain Bike Championships race being held here on 5 & 6 Dec, some of our Yaugher trails will be closed to the public 9am -1pm each day. Southern trails all open!

11.01.2022 Hey Folks.

08.01.2022 2020 has been a mostly down year, but there is still time to finish it on a high note! We are 9 days away from Forrest. Will you join us? bit.ly/VICMBCS

08.01.2022 Wattles and wildflowers are out at Yaugher! Make Forrest part of your regional Vic holidays! #rideforrest

08.01.2022 Couldn't find your way home from the trails recently, unable to follow the meticulously plotted out ride you spent ages on late one night, OMG you couldn't upload your STRAVA sections, got home and found your faithful companion has deserted you? Do not despair.....the world hasn't ended........Found on the trails today, 1 lonely Garmin Edge. Get in touch with us and we can point you in the direction of your saviour.

06.01.2022 Hi Folks we.re sure that everyone is keen to get back to Forrest in good time, ride, eat, drink and stay. A key part of staying in town is the caravan park, which is currently going through an EOI process regarding the lease. Have your thoughts listed in the survey. But don't dilly dally as you only have until July 3... https://www.colacotway.vic.gov.au//Forrest-Caravan-Park-le See more

05.01.2022 Hi all, Someone keeps blocking off the B line on Marriners at Dave’s drop off. Please stop blocking the B line. Please do not place branches and sticks across the B line (like in this photo) to block it. We’ve had to clear it twice in only a few days. While on the whole, making endless B lines all over the place is unhelpful, this is one that the Club wants in place. We have plenty of kids and beginners and we want to encourage them to learn the skills required to c...omplete obstacles such as this. However the flip side is, this location also sees the highest number of injuries including two people needing a helicopter ride last year, one with a broken neck. A B line here makes sense so people aren’t forced into going over something they are not ready for. Thank you!

05.01.2022 Timely reminder for the folks riding in Forrest, 3 snakes spotted by one rider in just one trail this morning. #wrigglestick #dangernoodle #noperope #joeblake
