25.01.2022 Fort Toulouse news : Friends, I know this will be sad but probably not unexpected news. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the 2020 Alabama Frontier Days event has been canceled. Please help us get the news to our living history community. Since many are not on FB, I will be contacting folks via email and phone over the next few days. 23.01.2022 Good afternoon fellow Les Amis members, hope this email finds you all well. As you all are aware, it has been a very crazy year so far and that doesn't seem to want to change anytime in the immediate future. Over the past weeks I have been in communication with the agency (IDNR) and the organizations that plan/manage the upcoming events at Fort de Chartres and we decided that August 1st would be our go /no go date for determining if we would be able to have our upcoming even...ts or not. To be honest, there wasn't much discussion needed, as IDNR could not see in the future and say when the restriction on gatherings of 50 people or more would be lifted. With this uncertainty, it makes it hard to plan and raise money for an event that may or may not get to happen. This being said, the decision was made to cancel all of the rest of the events for 2020. These events are: 50th Annual Fort de Chartres Rendezvous, September 12-13, French and Indian War Encampment and Competition, October 10-11 and the Fort de Chartres Winter Rendezvous and Woodswalk, November 7-8. We feel for the businesses and communities, as they are the ones that are taking a financial blow from the cancellation of these events. This is all the more reason for all of us to do our part in supporting these businesses and communities during these troubling times. Although it seem as though we are going to miss out on celebrating the 50th of Rendezvous and the 300th of the fort, don't you worry, we plan to celebrate these milestones at the 51st Annual Fort de Chartres Rendezvous, June 5-6, 2021! Let's all keep our heads up and hope for a better event season in 2021! In the meantime, keep your eye on communications coming out from the organization as we have all kinds of fantastic stuff in the works! I would like to personally thank you all for your continued support of our beloved fort and the events we are fortunate enough to have there, couldn't do half the great things we do without all of you. Sincerely, Jason Duensing Vice President of Events - Les Amis du Fort de Chartres

21.01.2022 If you all are itching to get out and do some reenacting, Fort Atkinson here in Nebraska will be having a time line event the 5th and 6th of Sept. There is no fee to camp, the fort grounds are very well maintained. There is a blacksmith on site and a tinsmith on site as well. If you are planning on going, I just ask that you give me a heads up on how many are coming with how many tents so I can inform the site super. It should be a pretty laid back event, but gets you out of the house. Fort Atkinson is an 1820's wooden stockade fort. Hope to see you out here!

02.01.2022 NOTICE OF IDNR PRESS RELEASE 2020 Fort Massac Encampment Canceled SPRINGFIELD, Ill. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced the 2020 Fort Massac Encampment, slated for Oct. 17-18 at Fort Massac State Park, will be canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.... The Fort Massac Encampment is one of southern Illinois’ most treasured and popular fall festivals, drawing thousands of people from across the state, as well as neighboring states, said Colleen Callahan, director, IDNR. Given the possibility the event will draw large crowds, the Department, in consultation with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Office, elected to cancel this year’s event. While we understand the importance of the Fort Massac Encampment, we must keep public health and safety top of mind. We’re looking forward to next year’s event and hope to make it better than ever. Offering educational programming and entertainment in the form of mock military battles, tactical demonstrations and military retreat ceremonies, as well as food and craft vendors and other family-friendly activities, the event draws thousands of staff, volunteers, vendors and attendees which could potentially violate social distancing and crowd size requirements. IDNR staff look forward to beginning plans for the 2021 Fort Massac Encampment with help from local supporters including the City of Metropolis, Friends of Fort Massac, and local sponsors and volunteers.
