24.01.2022 Play is essential to a childs emotional, physical and mental growth. What may look like simple mucking around to an adult is, in fact, incredibly beneficial to our childrens health and wellbeing. Read Emmas blog here >>> https://teachstart.co/2BdauIJ

22.01.2022 Squishy, squashy, squelchy, slimy gloop. Its almost as much fun to describe gloop as it is to squish it between your fingers! Designed for children ages 04... (but, really, for kids of all ages!), this activity explains how to make your own gloop, and provides some example questions to get your kids thinking about the experience. https://publicdocumentcentre.education.tas.gov.au//0-4-yea #sensorythursday #playbasedlearning

20.01.2022 It takes a whole family to be safe online - thats the message from the Office of the eSafety Commissioner. With that in mind eSafety has a great article avail...able that looks at making a family tech agreement. An agreement helps to set rules and guide discussions around online safety. A fantastic resource for everyone in the home - kids and parents alike. Check it out and download a template here: https://www.esafety.gov.au//children/family-tech-agreement See more

14.01.2022 Balloon Fun Blow up a balloon and have fun tapping it in the air. Play a game where you see how many times you can tap it without it touching the ground. Make your own stress ball. See the picture instructions bellow.... Balloon critters These little critters are so much fun to squish around. Not only is this a sensory activity, its also great for building up fine motor skills. When the kids squeeze the balloon animals, they build up hand strength. To fill the balloons, youll need a funnel. Just attach the balloon to the end of the funnel and pour the material in. Please use safe materials such as flour, sand, rice or coarse salt that will give different textures to the balloons but are safe in case the balloons burst. After you fill the balloon, tie it. Then you can draw eyes, antennas, legs, etc. to make them into bugs or animals. I used a black Sharpie to draw on the balloon. You could use words like soft, squishy, bumpy or smooth when your are using or talking about your critters. Have Fun From Mrs OToole and Mrs Walton

14.01.2022 Challenge your child to look for circles today! Look for them around the house, when you are out or in books when you are reading together. Recognising shapes i...s a first step to being able to recognise - and then read- letters and words. Letters are made up of different shapes and being able to tell the difference between a circle and a triangle will help a child later tell the difference between an A and an O. See more
