13.01.2022 Common Lower Back Pain Myths . "My Spine is out of alignment" . It is very common to hear someone say "I have slipped a disc in my back", or "my spine is out of alignment". But this is a misunderstanding, and the truth is usually not so severe.... . The spine does not go in and out of alignment, without some underlying cause such as scoliosis or another specific cause. Even in these circumstances, the spine is usually just curved, but the segments are still in line with one another. . When someone "slips a disc", they have actually developed a herniation in the disc, rather than the disc actually moving out of place. This difference in terminology can have a major affect on your psychological feelings when it comes to your pain and overall out come. . Dr Harold Nguyen (Chiro) graduated from Murdoch University with a double degree in a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) and a Bachelor of Chiropractic . He is a passionate Chiropractor with a keen interest in health, mobility and strength, as well as training regularly in combat sports (BJJ and MMA) .... He utilizes a range of techniques which are individualized for the client’s goals, including spinal adjustments, mobilizations, soft tissue therapies, and dry needling. Being the youngest sibling in a family full of health professionals (including a Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, and another Chiropractor), Harold is no stranger to the allied health workforce . In his spare time outside the clinic, you can find Harold training in combat sports, DJing a party, or simply buried underneath a book at the beach. .
