24.01.2022 What began as heavy rain last Thursday has resulted in one of the NSW states worst flood disasters in decades. Dozens of flood warnings remain in place as its predicted it will take some time for floodwaters to reside and for the clean up to begin! Over the course of recent days and disastrous events approximately 6000 people were evacuated in the 24 hours up to 8am on Wednesday, and several rivers across NSW were still at risk of major flooding confirmed by officials, with ...close to 20,000 remaining evacuated at this point in time. What we still have to be aware of is the fact that thousands and thousands of people are still on evacuation warnings, that the rivers will continue to swell, that catchments will continue to experience flows of water not seen in 50 years and in some places 100 years, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said earlier on Wednesday. The recent news suggests some 7000 property claims have been recorded with around 40% of these being for domestic homes. 80% of these claims arise from NSW, 8% for VIC, 8% SA with the remaining small % from QLD.
